I decided to finally get one of Nile's albums next week. However, I have a couple questions about them:

1. Since I'm a little tight on cash right now, I'm thinking I'll just download one of their albums. Is the "cover/CD art" on their records good enough to really make it worth buying them? Also, do any of the songs "lead into one another" (which tends to be a problem when burning MP3s)?

2. Should I begin with Amongst The Realms Of Nephran-Ka (my original idea) or just begin with one of their later records like In Their Darkened Shrines?

It's either Amongst or In Their Darkened Shrines. Their two best.

Flip a coin or something.

I'd go for the one with the track Unas, Slayer of the Gods.. it's a tour de force.

Yeah, go with In Their Darkened Shrines... I wouldn't buy the album for the artwork, but you might think differently about that...

I decided to go with Amongst The Catacombs... since it was Nile's breakthrough album. I have yet to listen to it, but from what I did hear out of it, it's pretty doggone good.

ItDS was the better choice, music-wise (it's the best Nile ever and one of my fav DM albums) and packaging-wise because it includes loads of liner notes explaining the lyrics and Egipcian history (don't know if other releases include this as well...).

In Their Darkened Shrines will probably be my second Nile purchase if I like Amongst The Catacombs.

I dont know about their other albums but In their Darkened Shrines has an incredible booklet, well worth buying. First you have the lyrics for each song, second they explain what the lyrics are all about. I had a lot of fun reading it.
