Yep, a thread to run parallel to the Best Extreme Albums one. God I'm just so clever sometimes.

Anyway, I'm not going to pretend I know enough about the extreme genres to make a list, I'll just start you off by saying Vinterskugge by Isengard is one of the worst albums I've ever had the misfortune of hearing.

Everything from The Haunted, death to pseudo thrash !

I didnt like Nile, they sound like Suffocation with that Egyptian gimmick thrown in.

Yeah, those two bands are overrated as hell.

yeah it gets on my nerve whenever someone claims The Haunted as the new Slayer. bah

Yeah i never saw what's so good about Nile, on the other hand Rudra's latest album is some great stuff. Metal-Rules.com did a review on the album !! I'll gladly send a mp3 or two from them if anyone's interested.

erm for BM, the worst i heard, although only a few songs, is Absurd.

Slayer fucking suck. I would even take the NEW The Haunted over Slayer they suck so much.

the most sucky i have heard so far is Helvintr - Journey Into Frigid Enclave ... it's bm heavily influenced by circus music, unpurposely i guarantee you'll laugh when you hear this

I have to say I too have never really seen that much attraction in Nile and Suffocation. I certainly wouldn't call them the worst extreme bands ever.

I've only ever heard a couple of tracks off this record, but how about "Balder's Dod" by everyones favourite one man prison based band, Burzum?

Frankly I think that latest Old Man's Child CD is much worse.

As for Slayer, I still think they're above average.. a lot of people are annoyed by them just because they took attention away from plenty of other great, better bands, not that they suck in and of themselves. ignoring their nu-metal shite

Much worse than what? The worst thing ever? That's a bit harsh...

And despite still thinking Slayer is pretty worthless myself, I must say you do have a point there. A lot of Slayer hate originates in the same way lots of hate does for any bigger metal band, because their popularity offends those who hold much less popular bands in much higher regard.

I'd have to say Between the Buried and Me's The Silent Circus is one of the worst albums I've ever heard. I keep TRYING to listen to it because of how much everyone loves the band, but I usually end up skipping back to the one decent song, that Anablephobia one. The vocals are satirically bad, the riffing is aimless and disorganized... et cetera, et cetera.

What else... hmm... well, that's the one I feel most strongly about, really. The Haunted is pretty terrible as well. Then there's Opeth, who have an entire discography full of crap.

Ya, anything by the Haunted/The Crown/Opeth.

To each their own, I suppose. I still love "In Defiance Of Existance" dearly, and nothing you can say can make me stop!

As for the topic at hand: Viking Crown is pretty fucking bad...

Black Dahlia Murder gets at least a nod for the vocals alone.

Yeah, but they could've at least made it good. Just becuase it's satire doesn't mean it should be piss poor.
