 Post subject: CELTIC FROST returns
PostPosted: Mon Aug 22, 2005 9:45 am
Quote:
Seminal avant-garde metal pioneers Celtic Frost announce the completion of their new studio album, tentatively titled "Dark Matter Manifest", their first in 13 years and the culmination of some three and a half years of songwriting and recording work. Although the album was largely produced by the band themselves and financed by their own production company, Celtic Frost enlisted Hypocrisy/Pain mastermind Peter Tägtgren to co-produce with them the final recording and mixing sessions at Horus Sound Studio in Hanover, Germany, in August/September 2005. Negotiations with a variety of labels are currently underway, and the album is scheduled for a release in early 2006.

Having declined innumerable reunion show propositions over the years, Celtic Frost once again deemed it essential to manifest themselves creatively with a new album before embarking on the live circuit next year.

Original Celtic Frost members Tom Gabriel Fischer (voice and guitars) and Martin Eric Ain (bass) are joined by Erol Unala (guitar) and Franco Sesa (drums). The band are now managed by Antje Lange for The A Label in Berlin, Germany (info@thealabel.com).

are you happy ? :D

I'm a little leery... we all know how some of these revivals go. But if they are as good as they were in '85-'87, this is excellent news. They should have remained a trio, though; there aren't enough fucking trios around anymore.

I don't know what to expect. Most reunions are just plain disgraceful, and i've never liked Peter Tägtgren's production. But i'm still hoping that Tom and the guys are gonna surprise me.

Get both Morbid Tales and To Mega Therion. The latter is my personal favorite.

It's about FUCKING time.

I remember reading about the reunion and downloading an early version of a new song back in like 2003.

And judging from that song, they aren't going to attempt the scope of Pandemonium again, but Celtic Frost can't exactly be pinpointed with a single track...so anything could come of this record.

I'm just happy to finally have some Celtic Frost material where Tom can sing, seeing as how he has gotten so much better since the demise of the band.

Was the track you downloaded called "ground"? I think I got that too. Very nice, very distinctive sounding. So I'm looking forward to any album they may produce 8)

Well we can't expect them to out do their older albums.

It was indeed. Cool song for sure.

My only real hope is that they do something on this album that is befitting of their best moments, taking their sound somewhere new even if it's in measured and controlled bits like pre-Pandemomium. It would be a travesty for them to come back together only to release an album full of safe-sounding material.

Definently looking foreward to this. I heard Ground a year ago or so and have been checking Tom G. Fischer's livejournal for awhile for updates on it.
