These metalcore topics get way more posts than the legitimate metal reviews and I find that sad.

I didn't give this release a score at all as it just wasn't my thing. I just can't care.

Listened to the songs on their website. My opinions based on these 2 songs:

1. Metalcore? What are you people smoking? There's pop-punk/emo influences, but no bloody metalcore from what I've heard. The heavy/power categorization is quite valid imo.
2. The vocalist is ok. Not great but easily listenable.
3. The songs were better than I thought. Beast and the Harlot was ok but Thrashed and Scattered was great.

A lot of people are pissy over the classification, which is why it gets so many replies. It's more fun to disagree with people than to agree with them.

I doubt most of the people downplaying the band (excluding WinterIsComing, who has said that he listened to it, and any others who have done the same thing) have actually listened to it without the big block of 'I can't like this band it is/was popular and/or metalcore at one point' in their mind.

So... yeah. I stand by my rating.

Ok, I know everyone is dying to hear my take on it ( har har ) so after much deliberation...A7X is, in fact, gay. They are about as heavy/power metal as Motley Crue, which is to say, they are a filthy perversion. The new album is more of a metal inflected power pop album than it is an actual metal album.
