Edguy might be the best live band I've ever seen. While I like a lot of their songs, most of their albums are quite uneven imo. But they rule live! By the way I'm going to see Nightwish and Nocturnal Rites on September 8th and I can't wait!!

what other bands did you see besides Edguy?

Tales Of Mystery And Imagination now that's a classic and probably my fav. NR album, followed closely by Shadowland.I doubt they'll ever make another TOMAI (hehe).

I agree. I bought that 2 cd reproduction of the debut and I liked a coupkle of the songs that they re-did, becuase I like the new singers voice better, tho not as distinct sounding, but the album cover is cool and Im sure it will be a good album nonetheless.
Did anyone else purchase Lost in Time?

Edguy were my first metal concert way back in 2003. We dont get a lot of real quality metal bands coming down here to oz, and it still compares with most other concerts i've been to as one of the best, after nightwish. It was a really small, packed venue and the atmosphere was awesome, and tobias and crew just rocked. And they played mysteria, which just went off. Edguy rule man.

Ja, they were more or less the first of the modern wave of Power Metal, so they had more of an 80s sound on their first three albums. They switched singers after that and now sound more 'modern' (in a good way), but they've lost that something special they had, I think.

Yeah they have, I but I'm a bit worried...it's released only one year after NWM, which was only quite good...

Tad Morose and Nocturnal Rites here in Sweden. I didn't know TM and NR then but I remember that both were quite good live.

Nocturnal Rites is a power metal band. Good but not great imo.

NOW it's true that I saw Edguy last night !!!!!!!!!!!!!! At the "Imperial", in Quebec.
It was a fantastic show, as usual !!!!!! Nice place, not too big...and I really had a good spot. The only sad part is that they couldn't play a very long time. As Hammerfall was more THE big event for this tour. But anyway. They played very great songs: "Vain Glory Opera" (always a classic, for me...), "Out of Control", "Babylon", "Land of the Miracle", "Tears of A Mandrake" and some more. I think in all, they played 8 songs...it was quite short. For Hammerfall, well...I went out before the end of the show...not that it was bad, but I didn't know no songs at all, so I didn't enjoy it AS MUCH and I was very tired (made the line from noon till 19h00). Eating and drinking absolutly nothing till 1h00 AM (I was going alone to the show, so I didn't want to loose my place in the line). That was HARD !!!! Anyway. And the opening band "Into Eternity"...NOT MY KIND !!!!!!!!!! I basically only liked the part of Edguy. So for what concerns the show, I'd say that I like the last tour better, as they played very long. But anyway. They promised to come back to Quebec city next tour. And the great part is that I FINALLY had the chance to meet all the guys and spend a lot of time with them !!!!! It was great and Tobias Sammet is definitely the BEST entertainer in the world !!!!!!! You know this after you saw one of his concerts. So, basically, I'm AMAZED !!!!! Great guys, nice, funny and really simple.

Hummmmm...I never really seen shows at the Capitole yet (that's gonna be for Stratovarius, hehe...), but I think the sound was much better last September in Montreal, at Club Soda. I don't know. The place (Imperial) was nice (looked like a "small Capitole" inside...), but I think I prefered Club Soda for many aspects. If I remember well, the sound quality was better there. Yesterday, hummmm...not THAT good (for the sound). But I don't know why. The sound for the opening band was simply awful...It was better, still for Edguy and Hammerfall.

Not that I DIDN'T like it at all !!!! But it's not as much fun to see a show when you don't know the songs already. You can't really sing with everybody or expect what's coming next...But I never said they were BAD or whatever like that. That's different. It's just they'll probably won't be part of my top 10 bands...not till I don't hear some of their albums, at least !!!

You'll probably end up getting into them and regretting leaving early. Its just Sod's Law.

I've done that at festivals before and felt like hitting my head off a wall months later when I got into the band and realised I had missed them.

I now can't believe I never went to see UDO at Sweden Rock last year, and I once knocked back the opportunity to see Maiden only to get properly into them about three months later (and then wait two and a half years til then next gig). Also missed Megadeth on the World Needs a Hero tour...I felt like crying when they split up (but it all worked out in the end).

People, submit your "I can't beleive I missed it" gig stories here. :P

there was a Dio/Deep Purple/Scorpions tour that for some reason I decided not to go to.

Also I think there was a Corrosion of Conformity/Clutch show which I didn't go to a while back.

Then I had a chance to see Symphony X and Virgin Steele shows and decided not to go because I saw them not too long before that.

Probably biggest regret is missing Savatage tour.

Right now I decided not to go to Stratovarius show and not go to ProgPower VI in favor of Oliva/Caffery/Owens show.
