Now, kiddies, i know that you're all gonna say that this question has no answer, but in your opinion what are the best/your favourite extreme albums?
One from each genre:

Black Metal: Emperor-In The Nightside Eclipse

Death Metal: Deicide-Deicide

Thrash: Slayer-Reign in Blood

Thisd should be a nice flamewar

BM: Immortal - Sons of Northern Darkness (Let's hear it for crappy lyrics about snow and stuff!)
DM: Nile - In Their Darkened Shrines
Thrash: Slayer - Reign in Blood

There are other albums I like better, but for the sake of this thread, I only counted "pure" black and death metal. No Vintersorg or The Duskfall, sadly.

I can't agree with the Slayer pick. They are by far one of the most over rated thrash metal bands....and now they totally suck. But even if I was to pick a SLayer album as best thrash album.. (which I would never do) I would go with Show No Mercy.

Its thrash, folk, not "trash." Whoever the hell thought to use the term "trash" metal in the first place was a retard. And Blood Fire Death isn't thrash.

Black metal: N/A
Death metal: Atheist- Piece of Time
Thrash: Impossible for me to answer, so I'll just list a bunch:

Kreator- Coma of Souls
Heathen- Victims of Deception
Sodom- Agent Orange
Mekong Delta- Dances of Death (And Other Walking Shadows)
Exodus- Bonded by Blood
Dark Angel- Darkness Descends
Overkill- The Years of Decay
Megadeth- Rust in Peace

THRASH :
EUROPE : Coroner - Punishment for Decadence
AMERICA : Metallica - Master of Puppets

Death Metal: Atheist - Unquestionable Presence

Thrash: Umm... uh... Darkness Descends, I guess, if I have to choose.

They are not death metal, nor power or heay or hard rock, some could argue that they are first wave of BM but BFD is clearly trash sounding to me...again i'm not a big trash fan so i could be mistaken...

I especially like it when people say that. "The first wave of Black Metal is thrash."

PICK ONE YOU JERKASS...

Honestly though. There are always transition points when you come to a genre creation, whether it was thrash from NWOBHM, or Death and Black from both of those. There will always be those who say that the early black/death bands such as Bathory or Possessed were not black or death, but rather thrash, but I will always consider them to be part of those former genres. They may not be one with the current genre requirements or on par with the harshness or technicality of today's bands, but they were here first and will forever stand as a necessary part of each genre, and to try and disassociate them from the genre just to prove how discerning your ear is is bullshit and undercuts their importance and the musical statement they made.

At least that's my take on it.

Oh, and yeah, I'm with Brahm, people who consistently use the term trash instead of thrash should stop doing that. It's stupid as all hell. It's like someone going around calling Black Metal Back Metal. Shit yeah, I love Symphonic Back Metal.

 uhm... sorry for ignoring the "H" in thrash... but hey... i don't give a damn about thrash anyway... so....and i don't complain about ppl liking symphonic bm either, at least not in this forum :P

Black Metal: I'm torn between Darkthrone's A Blaze in the Northern Sky and Under a Funeral Moon.

Death Metal: Morbid Angel - Blessed are the Sick.

Thrash: Can't pick just one! Some that spring to mind right now are To Mega Therion by Celtic Frost, Pleasure to Kill by Kreator and Killing Technology by Voivod. And Darkness Descends and Twisted to Form and... :)

BM: Emperor - ITNE
DM: NILE - ITDS
Thrash: Megadeth - RIP
