That certainly is shit about FYE. It shows how much money-making has become an integral part of metal, and IMO, metal needs to go underground again if we don't want it to go the same way it did in the 80s/90s, bloated and dying.

That's why I love ProgPower USA. It is hands down the best metal fest in the US. Great selection of bands, bands enjoy the opportunity to be there since its a 1 shot thing, and vendors charge normal competitive prices.

I decided not to go to Gigantour since DT's set was reduced to 55 minutes and only cared to see Symphony X and Nevermore.

Was that a Nevermore interview mentioned? It's been a while since the last interview...

I am sad to hear about all that merchandising crap, but it is like that all over the world. I saw DT in germany and each Tshirt was about 35 Euros. Better buy them in a flee market.
And now they sell this Platinum tickets for 200 something US, to meet and greet the band with foto included. As much fan of any band as I can be, I wouldn't pay that much money for that.
Following my line of thought I will probably never get an autograph from these bands.

The big reason why shirts were so expensive is because big venues where festivals and big name bands roll through charge the groups an arm and a leg to sell merch. When you go see a band like Iron Maiden and shirts are FORTY FIVE DOLLARS its generally because the venue takes anywhere from 35 - 45 percent of the sales. Still, thats insane and paying thirty five bucks for a shirt is just way too much.

Yes I did do an interview with NEvermore but before that goes up I'll have my Into Eternity interview posted soon.

Sucks that Symphony X wasn't at your stop. They were great when i saw them. They really stole the show. They only got to play about 5 songs though.

YEa Dillinger Escape Plan were supposed to be there but they werent for some reason. I think this is why Nevermore got 6 songs instead of 5 and I think Fear Factory got an extra song as well.

I also decided it was not worth to go. I saw Megadeth not too long ago and Symphony X a few years ago. Maybe next year they have a lineup more to my liking.

About the D.E.P., they were supposed to enter the tour one week after its beginning. I believe they were still on the Warped Tour then. It's too bad you didn't get to see them, although you got an extra Nevermore song... that somehow makes up for it!

Gigantour was by far the best concert I've been to yet. I got my copy of This Godless Endeavour signed by Nevermore (their bassist gave me a pick and I had a mini-conversation with Steve Smyth about Dragonlord, so it was cool :D ), and the crowd went absolutely wild when Fear Factory played the chorus to "Walk" as a tribute to Dimebag.

My throat is sore from singing, my shoulders are sore from throwing up the horns and my neck hurts from headbanging, but it was all worthwhile, especially when James LaBrie pointed me out in the crowd a few times. I know it's not that much to say, but being the savage Dream Theater fan I am, it's worth mentioning. I went crazy when they played "Peruvian Skies".

I got a free ticket to this so I went even though not really my type of bands except a little bit of Nevermore (who I missed), Symphony X was ok, Fear Factory was the absolute worst band I have seen live, beating out Isis's 6 minutes blown amp and telling the crowd to fuck off performance. Dream Theatre was ok but I am not a fan and don't really know their songs to well, but I tell you what, they need to cut at least 4 minutes off of every song and they might be a good band. Megadeth was cool to see because I have not seen them since 91, but his band kind of sucks ass but Dave was awesome on the guitar. Yeah, I would have bought a t-shirt too for Nevermore but now way for 35 bucks and I really hate shows like that anyways because just get the jock metal Pantera loving homos and that kind of shit at them. Much rather see Hammerfall and Edguy or any of the small upcoming shows.
