Not to be confused with the NSBM band of the same name, this is an awesome Doom/Death supergroup featuring folk from Khanate, Sunn 0))) I think. I'll have to do some more research on the line up though.

Anybody know them? A sample is here:

http://www.southernlord.com/lord1.htm

I don't have any of their albums but after hearing a few tracks I'm definitely interested.

Heh... here's some more accurate info for those who don't already know, which includes myself.

Southern Lord Recordings presents it's maiden voyage into darkeness: the cult recording by the black doom act Thorr's Hammer. Previously only available through Moribound on cassette, this highly anticipiated release is at last available in all its glory on Compact Disc. Thorr's Hammer is raw nihilistic doom featuring the unbelievable vocals of Norwegian goddess Ozma. Presented in her native Norwegian tongue, Ozma' gutteral dark vocals are contrasted by beautiful singing creating a huanting atmosphere. Funeral dirge is provided by the collaberation of Stephen O'Malley (Burning Witch/SUNN0)))) and Greg Anderson (ex-Engine Kid/SUNN0)))/Goatsnake). Jamie Sykes (Burning Witch/Wardrums, ex-CODENAME F.A.D.G.E.) and James Hale (Subharmonics). This union is raw, low and heavy as fuck, reminiscent of elder gods HELLHAMMER/CELTIC FROST,SABBATH, AND VENOM. The CD contains the original three demo tracks (from 1995) and a recently unearthed live recording ("Mellom Galgene") all originally created in the stoned winter of 1994-1995. They have now been remastered with the expertise of Count Schneeberger (ST. VITUS, OBSESSED,etc.)....over one half hour of grim melancholy.

Awesome is not a word that fits this band! Boring comes to mind. Shitty is another good word choice. I do give immense respect to the female singer for fucking sounding like Satan himself on the Dommedagsnatt EP (the only thing I have by this band). Other than that the CD makes a good beer coaster.

Would be good atmospheric computer game music, if not for the guy going "Oooooo!", which kinda spoilt it for me, made it like all the other Doom bands out there.

The atmosphere on Dommedagsnatt is inexpressible, especially the vocal parts (!Runhild did all of them!). The way the band mixes raw doom/death with sludge is unique and the result we get is an unforgettable half hour of shamanic ecstatic madness.

I highly recommend this album to anyone who's interested in original uncommon music.

Terrible music is, unfortunately, not original and it's surely not uncommon. :D

We get it, you don't like it, please stop saying that over and over and over.

(Besides, he's wrong. Thorr's Hammer's Dommedagsnatt is some of the best doom-death ever. But Eyesore hates Cathedral, so who the heck takes his opinion on Doom seriously?)

Yes, and no.

Okay, now we can skip straight to an actual argument without the buildup stages.

Thor's Hammer are pretty ok, but female vocals always put me off doom-death. Hell, doom-death tends to put me off doom-death.

*not quite back from my hibernation yet* *snooze*

Are you suggesting this sounds like a female? This chick busts out some of the most brutal death vocals I've ever heard! There's nothing female about it.

Slumber is Goth Metal, so is Draconian. Somehow, somewhere along the way the true meaning of Goth Metal got peverted to include HIM, Goth Rock and any chick singing off key with guys in Pirate shirts. If you draw your Bloodlines straight back to Icon and Gothic or even newer stuff like In Velvet Darkness the Fear you play Gothic Metal. Not Doom/Death.
