Disc 1 - Arcane Throne & Mourning Star


Disseminating everything that may relate to regularity in musical norms and otherwise experimented before in the mainstream. A confrontation with the depth of the unconscious and the mysterious wonders of the natural world and the human predicament. It must be said that I have not listened to this recording since its release and only listened to it once or twice even back then. A difficult album and one which must truly be experienced rather than just listened to in search for surface-level pleasure. One of a kind.

Primeval and cunning.

A truly enigmatic act.

A complete change of direction. Bursting and vibrating with energy.

A favourite band of mine from the traditional side of metal. Brilliant musicianship.

An early favourite and one of the first ethnic metal recordings that I have ever heard. Still a favourite and of superb musical value. Something more gregarious.

To continue the odyssey in a different mode. The last of this long day's recordings. Until another day tomorrow. Farewell for now.

I went through a period in summer 2012 when it was released where I was listening to the album almost every night. I was not in a good headspace. It's a truly remarkable album, and not for surface listening, as you note.

North I will tell you that even last night I had a difficult time getting through even the first disc. It is really an uncomfortable listen for me. But I have to sit through it one way or another and see if I can sink into it, but certainly that was not the case last night at all. I found myself to be deeply distraught after listening to it. A truly Wagnerian alternative to something stunningly profound. I rarely become disturbed by any music I listen to but this recording is particularly troublesome for me I will tell you.
