Didn't get a teaching assistant position and volunteering to teach philosophy to kids won't happen until the fall :( Guess I'll have more time to work on my thesis though.

Also thinking that the long distance thing is going to be tough since I don't have the tunnel vision that stops me from noticing other girls.

Noticing is different than going out of your way to garner those girls' attention or acting on it. Don't beat yourself up or you'll doom yourself.

Also couldn't find a legitimate academic gig for the summer and so probably will work at a grocery store or something lame like that all summer to pay for food.

Yeah. But the lack of tunnel vision might be a symptom. I'm generally questioning whether it's a good idea and I have the willpower, since the extra pressure to visit and come back to Victoria asap isn't ideal. We were only dating for three weeks during my last visit and she's great but I was on vacation so that makes it easier too. idk how to make these decisions

Indeed. That's what I have always tried to do. Not always the case. However, in the past several years it has been the case and it's a great method of having balance in life.

I concur as well. Things get one dimensional otherwise.

Great! Going to do karaoke at a place I'm trying to get a job at, but I texted the DJ about if I could bring mics, a CD of karaoke files and if he has a highpass filter in his rig and he said he would "call me" which sounds like he wants to put me to work to be honest. They could always use a ringer when a DJ does karaoke to get people talking and get asses in the seats buying liquor.

We'll see what happens. Singing is just a hell of a lot easier and about 1000x times less diaphragm than I thought it would be.

Vacation hook-ups, my friend... They're not real life. Like they seem like it, but they're not really. If life came in three week segments then sure, but that isn't how things are.

Diabetes (i have type 2) sucks, i kinda overdid it with sugar last night and spent a few hours in the bathroom sweating, shitting and puking. It was not very fun at all, i'm thinking some medicine might be in order and i should book an appointment with my doctor ASAP. UGH...

Edit: I might have just gotten a virus, still...a trip to the doctor might not be a stupid idea.

Summer is getting really boring without a job and not having the patience nor the desire to read philosophy. Baseball is on but that's only three hours of the day. A full summer is still left. I have to find something to do. I've applied at a few places. Things like landscaping. However, I really do not want to work retail from the negative experiences that I've had in the industry and dealing with people.

This sounds like me! Baseball has lost its pacifying effect as the Reds have dropped out of contention. I haven't been able to read a thing all summer. I took an awful job painting dorms. This week I have been struggling to finish a book chapter and am already late with it, but will be submitting an awful draft to the editor.

Well, summer is almost over. My classes resume Sept the 8th. I never found a job this summer. I listened to a lot of music and watched the world cup, followed by some baseball and a very little portion of movies. I read quite a bit this past little while, and learned a few new good things that makes you awe in wonder. So there is a little sense of accomplishment. However, I could've done with more money so I could have been at liberty of doing things which I wanted to do but could not because of financial restrictions. Oh well!

Summer went well for me. Went back to Victoria to spend time with girlfriend and that went great. She's moving to Montreal in Jan/Feb. :- ) Most of the week was a routine of breakfast/thesis/lunch/thesis/nap/dinner/dancing or show. Would've liked to get more of my thesis done (proposal/outline and a bunch of exposition is the only concrete stuff I have down) and working on it got rather lonely (I was walking the dogs and saw two landscapers having lunch together and felt jealous) but reading what I wanted was fun and life was good all summer. Not sure what a good/normal amount of thesis would've been, either. The few times I played music were a cruel reminder that when you don't practice something you get worse at it, though.

The Reds are such a perpetual tease. As are the Pirates and Brewers. My dislike of the Cardinals is practically pathological at this point.

CrimsonMoon, which team do you follow? I must have missed it.

Stressed the fuck out. Have a lot of life-changing stuff coming up.

Just finished my MSc, so I'm currently applying for funds to start a PhD thesis. Fucking hard as hell to write, so I can only cross my fingers and trust in my supervisors. If I miss out on this, I miss out on one hell of a career-opportunity. For a while at least. I was also recently promoted at my other job and am now in charge of a staff og 4 nutritionists. I don't know how to be a boss FFS. Fortunately, that is just a one-day/week job. Also have a job interview coming up, for which I have to prepare some trial lectures.

I follow the Blue Jays. The only Canadian team in MLB. They are a very inconsistent team and hard to follow.

Indeed. I thought this would be their year with the Red Sox, Rays, and Yankees less than dominant. Wasn't expecting the Orioles to be so good, and also thought the Jays pitching was gonna be a little better. They could still make a run...but yeah, it doesn't look good.

I feel like the last two years the Blue Jays have been positioned well only to flake out or never fire on all cylinders.

The Reds... Somehow our bullpen and hitting dropped off. I don't know what to say about them, besides maybe less injuries would have changed things, but we have sucked.

I really thought this year was the Blue Jays best chance with the Yanks and Red Sox expected to decline. And did they ever (especially Boston), meanwhile Tampa had none of the success the media had predicted. The offense has been great: I guess the Blue Jays's problem is they have a bunch of #3 starters and a pretty bad bullpen. They'd still have a great shot to win the division if the Orioles pitching wasn't so much better than expected.

I think Votto declining and then getting injured really sunk the Reds. They seem to fall apart offensively without him, and utterly depend on the home run in that park because they are near the bottom of league in AVG and OBP. At least the Reds pitching has been the best in the division.

For while there the Jays were doing very good. However, as per usual they screwed up and also key players getting injured wasn't the biggest help. No, things are not looking good for the Jays. They don't win the games they're supposed to, and rely on very few players to score home runs for them.
