I am really excited for this. Ordo Ad Chao was a seriously haunting album. I have loved Mayhem for along time. They always have found a way to separate themselves in a now watered down market of Black Metal. I remember ordering CDs with the Century Media paper order form back in 95'. This is back when they had Century Black or whatever the subsidiary was called. It took more than just an internet search to be into Black Metal. You had to buy Metal Maniacs, read reviews, use paper order forms. Ahhhhh those were the days. When Black Metal was this enchanting overseas mystery. They are part of what I call the big three: Satyricon, Emperor, and Mayhem. They embody the true essence of Black Metal IMO and I can't wait to listen to their latest offering. There are only a few bands that were a part of the original Black Metal movement. These guys were at the forefront.

I'm quite excited to hear this as I share the sentiments of others. Sounds like a natural progression from where Chimera left off. Not too crazy about the lyrical content but I shall be checking the booklet for lyrics and seeing how fitting it is for the music and the meaning of it all, if any.

Heard a few tracks and wasn't into it at all.

R.I.P. Mayhem.

The drums sound like I'm typing on my keyboard and clicking my mouse.

What do you mean "RIP" as creative as they are, they've been past their prime for well over twenty years now.

I listen to the Maniac/Blasphemer records all of the time and thoroughly enjoy them.

From what I am hearing on Youtube, with bad sound quality I'm really liking what I've heard so far. Will definitely get the album upon its release.

I'll have to wait til it comes out and I can listen to it on my iPod to really judge it but for now it's not close to WLA, GDOW, or chimera.

+1.

Hear nothing like that at all, either. I think it's quite a great effort from the legends.

Listening to this again.

My original statement was just the beginning of Watcher with the drums sounding like that.

This is pretty good, way better than Ordo Ad Chao, which I did not like.

so true! it was a pain to find good stuff...and having to pay 35-40$ for one cd and putting it out loud in my car...Just think of my big surprise with Abruptum...NOT!

saying that, Mayhem's latest is really good, evil, dissonant and remind me of Deathspell Omega at some place which is a great thing!
