As I said before, why are there no Fates Warning reviews??? No Deathrow reviews. No Cirith Ungol reviews. No Holy Terror.... All of the reviews are of well known played out classics. THere are soo many that havent been tapped yet...just due to either laziness or ignorance on behalf of the metalreviews team.

If you really want a commentary on the roots of metal, than Ozzy Osbourne's Blizzard of Ozz is hardly the place to start. My number 1 pick for a review would be Satan's "Court in the Act". BY far it is one of the brightest moments in heavy metal history and its influence cannot even be charted. It shits all over any of Ozzy's solo crap.....and it even puts to shame all but the best of the Sabbath catalogue.

Alright, alright... If these really are classics, I shouldn't argue with you.

THis is a classic, but honestly, of all the fucking classics they had to choose from, they picked this one. Goddamnit. This album...and even Ozzy Osbourne is so played out. And as far as classics go this is at the bottom of the totem pole. All it did was spawn a generation of posers that think that Ozzy is the father of metal, and that he was Sabbath's only lead singer.

I think this is a very poor choice for a review. My respect for this site and its choices is ever dwindling. WHo the fuck gave the "go ahead" for the Unicorn review. This is simply awful. Its either played out commercially succesful metal, or wimpy fairy metal. There's a heavy dose of swedish shit and fake black metal too. it seems time is not being taken to search for quality metal acts, so they have to fall back on something like Ozzy Osbourne for inspiration.

Agreed, if not for the forums i wouldnt be visiting this site at all. Bands like Cirith Ungol, Heathen, Razor, Vio-Lence, Fates Warning etc etc badly needs a review, if not classic. These bands deserve 100x more attention, than 3nd rate melodeath/powermetal/metalcore bands. They are already somewhat buried, by giving them deservingly well written reviews it would expose them to people who otherwise never heard of them at all. A purpose of a review should be giving bands more exposure to people who are unfamiliar with them right ?

Blizzard Of Ozz is a good album, easy pick, quite overrated, but we all know that.

I agree. I mean, the last time there was a thrash metal review was in fucking April. Its fine to review all these power and black metal albums or whatever, but at least cover the basics of one of metal's most prominent genres. Not to mention bands like Fates Warning an Satan and Angel Witch who have influenced countless bands while creating great music.

Razor is a great band Otakon. I saw them in Toronoto with Anvil and Exciter.

Then you don't even deserve to be posting here as it plainly shows that you have no appreciation for the roots of metal

Stop whining or A: Go make your own Website or B: Go somewhere that fits your tastes. I persnonally love this site because they respect the past, understand what true Heavy Metal is, offer fair reviews (a tad high, but that is ok, you can tell they just love music, are not pretentious and full of crap like most metal sites, and finally, because they review the kind of metal I like. There are plenty of sites for you hard core extreme, metal started with the San Fran Thrash scene dudes so go to them.......

Hey Man, seriously you should go over to I think it is Diabolical Conquest or some thing like that and chat it up with one of their reviewers Nin Chan, you and he would get along well. Just let me and the rest of the Fairy Metalers in peace here...lol. I agree on Cirith Ungol and Satan, but damn man, they never were popular albums and by the lack of knowledge on here still arn't, some sites are just more mainstream then others, just like the bands that play Metal. Personally, like I said above, I love this site because it least they give a fair revew to Power Metal and True Metal and don't go on and on about utter crap like Pelican and other stupid stuff that isn't even Metal.

How old are you dude? Just curious if this love for stuff like Satan and Cirith Ungol comes from age or surfing the web?

Well to answer Lee's question. I'm 21. ANd I found out about all of these bands by buying all of their vinyl and researching the hell out of them.

And I think you/re wrong. This site shows very little respect for the past. And the little respect they do show is to bands like Metallica and Ozzy Osbourne. The most commercial aspects of metal are represented here. Too much shitty black metal and swedish metal. And fairy metal, which as a whole makes a mockery of what real metal sounds like. Too many bands are in it for the money, riding trends and recycling riffs of old.

THere are a few guys on this board who have the knowledge and respect of the past to be called metal heads. The rest I belive to be posers, or just a bunch of narrow minded ignoramuses.

Some call me an elitist bastard.....I agree.....minus the bastard part. I've heard way to much metal, spanning just about every genre. And though I present opinions...they are usually very well researched. Metal has no more integrity....at least not any of the new crop of bands coming out. None of them know how to rock....its just the same old tired formula. ANd if they do something new its usually adding shitty hardcore or emo elements....

So if I list bands that you havent heard before...don't use the argument that "they must suck because they're not as well known". Thats been used to death on this website and it only exposes the idiots that say it for what they are. So try looking the bands up before you pass judgement.

PS. Ozzy Osbourne sucks.

Well this ozzy album its definetly a classic, but a mediocre one.
they should make a review on Fates Warning - The Spectre Within , Sodom - Persecution mania, Reverend - World Won't Miss You, and Soothsayer - Have A Good Time, not that the ozzy osbourne review was unnecesary but but any of the bands mentioned are better.

HT, I know of all the stuff you speak of. Mainly because I am an old Man and heard all of that shit a long time ago and moved on. Some of your "classics" I def agree with, others I think get a lot of revisionist hitory by youngsters like yourself discovering the roots of metal via the internet. Which is way cool, it could be it is just all old news to me so don't' care anymore. Is Blizzard of Oz a great/classic album.....nah, but it fits in with what is normally on here. Honestly, i listen to something like Holocaust or even Cirith Ungol these days and it just makes me laugh no matter how good it is.

What is your prob with BM? Which bands do you hate that they review on here. Plus the put a genre right next to the review, even for the Melodic Hard Rock stuff so don't read it. It beats the shit out of reading reviews about the latest Metal Core band with blood or sky in their name anyways.
