Great album, probably misses some bombastic song like sky is mine in skyforger but overall a more solid album. Keeps it high from the beginning to the end.

Im eager to see them live in next tour.

Fantastic album. Amorphis can do no wrong as far as I'm concerned.
They nail it every time indeed.

First off, This is my favorite band so obviously I'm going to love it. I understand the sounding the same comment, but they change just enough each album without changing their core sound. There are some great heavy vocals on this album. Joutsen's deep growls are the best in the game. They are audible and powerful. Most singers can only accomplish one or the other. Plus he has added some higher pitched almost black style vocals that are executed perfectly on this album. The guitar melody lines are the key hooks and the songs are written with the whole song in mind. Some people are dissecting individual rhythms and ripping on the simplicity, but like this review states the attention to detail is obvious and the technical prowess of the musicians is something they don't need to prove. They just write great tunes that are memorable. Every song on this album is great. How many bands can do that? My favorite songs are Enchanted by the Moon, Narrowpath, Nightbirds Song, and Shades of Gray, but like I said every song is great in it's own right. I had the pre-order of the Hopeless Days EP and it's stuck in my trucks CD player so I'm kinda sick of that song. Amorphis conquers all with this release and it will be tough to beat this year.

Me too, I've never given them proper time. I think I listened to Far from the Sun and was turned off by that one...

I highly recommend checking out an album that is post-Far From The Sun. It's quite a different type of sound.

Forgot to mention this in the review, all of their albums (up to and including this one) are available to stream for free on Grooveshark here: http://grooveshark.com/#!/artist/Amorphis/11161

Just start with Skyforger as your focal point then work away around. Skyforger has the best mix of heavy and melodic.

Hmm, I wonder who gave the '0' rating for this album?

I'll grant you Skyforger as the best of their more recent material, but Elegy is still the one album I'll grab when I am in the very rare mood to listen to Amorphis.

Thanks Khelek. I'll add those albums to the ever-growing playlist of cool stuff to listen to on Spotify ;)

Yeah, you guys should delete that zero rating. I wouldn't even rate a Six Feet Under cover album a zero. In fact, I own all of them for comic relief. There's nothing funnier than hearing Chris Barnes sing "You Shook Me All Night Long." I think they should do a cover of Heatbreaker by Pat Benatar hahahahaha or maybe Hot Blooded by Foreigner. You ever forget about a band you really like for a while and then remember them and throw their newest CD in. I just did that with Nevermore, Symphony X, Skinless, and Warbringer. Four bands you just can't f#ck with. Something about that album "From Sacrifice to Survival" is just infectious. I can listen to the whole album and enjoy every second. I'm starting to miss Nevermore finally. I got into Warbringer at a Halloween show they did with Nevermore. The singer was hilarious. He had a witch hat on and was smiling the whole time. They totally drew me in with that show. What was I talking about? Oh yeah, don't hate on Amorphis. Far from the Sun is the only sub par album Amorphis has ever released and actually the title track is one of my favorite Amorphis songs. My advice would be to start out with Elegy, Eclipse, or Silent Waters, but you really can't go wrong with this band.
