Turns out it was booze that killed Jeff Hanneman and specifically alcohol-related cirrhosis.

Makes me gald I gave up heavy boozing many moons ago.

I'm really not that sad that Jeff died. I mean I'm not happy or anything I really just don't care

Yeah, I like to toss back a few (Martinis or Scotch almost strictly) but only on Friday and Saturday nights, and only a few.
Nothing fun about a hangover when you have kids that wake up at 8 at the lastest on a saturday morning and you are required to be on.
Plus, alcohol really does play havoc on your body after awhile.

TBH suspected as much when they said it was his liver. And yes, aside from a bottle of wine here or there I don't put a lot away...

I found out he died from cirrhosis today after recovering from a pretty nasty hangover.

'I'm never drinking again' - until next weekend.

To die at that age from cirrhosis .. he was likely a full time alcoholic. Big difference.

Alcoholic liver disease (ALD). Alcoholic cirrhosis develops for between 10% and 20% of individuals who drink heavily for a decade or more.[8] Alcohol seems to injure the liver by blocking the normal metabolism of protein, fats, and carbohydrates.

Bad grammar, I meant I was hungover at the time of reading about it.
But yes, to actually die from cirrhosis at his age.... I've worked with a couple of alcoholics before, who would easily pound a couple of bottles of booze per day, everyday. One was in his late 40s and was only just starting to develop it. Age of onset is a big factor and all that, but still, just goes to show how hard he was hitting the sauce.
