There goes the value of your opinion right out the window.

Um, no, actually because it's my opinion it still has value. That's the point, it's MY opinion. So enlighten me then, you think Volbeat are terrible. Why? Are they not black enough, death enough, not kvult enough?

Oh, sorry North From Here, that I don't have 5,000 posts like you do. See, I'm 39 with a wife, child, and a job so I only post on here when I feel strongly about something. I know you probably have a lot of time to kill, still living with your parents, probably having neither a job or a girlfriend. Sorry I can't compete with that, you're the man...

Before this internet becomes serious business, I gave Pearl Hart a listen. The vocals don't sound like Danzig, but bad radio rock a la Hinder or Three Days Grace or whatever gets marketed these days. The riffing is simplistic and boring except for the obvious chorus hooks, where the guitarist apparently opts to do something unlike during the verses where he repeats a simple note ad nauseum. The big moment of riffing is like a complicated punk riff. And the solo is a flourish that goes nowhere. And going back to the vocals, the catch line has been repeated so often that I'm really annoyed with it three quarters of the way through. Was there even drumming in that song? Because it sure as fuck didn't do anything except keep pace with the unexceptional riffing. The same could be said about bass, but everybody knows nobody listens for bass these days.

Edit: But apparently people are lapping this shit up, it sold 39,000 its first week compared to the new Device (David Draiman's new project) and Stonesour albums at 35,000.

He is too busy with his incredibly awesome life to listen to anything that isn't on the radio.

I'm surprised he even has time for the radio seeing as how he's 39, married, has a job, and a kid. That's a full schedule right there.

This is why we don't have nice things.

Not saying my life is awesome boys, just different than yours. Sorry, did my remarks hit too close to home? Your scary avatars are so impressive, you must be real fierce in person. The fact that you think Volbeat is pop music proves your ignorance. Never heard them on the radio either. Sorry, that they're not some ultra-black death metal band with a name that you can't pronounce because that's the cool stuff right?

You can love black metal, death metal, or any kind of metal you want, doesn't really matter to me. You can hate Volbeat all you want, that won't stop millions of people from listening to them and going to see them. My point is that I find it annoying when people say that they hate a band but yet give no reason why to back it up. I don't agree with trappedunderice's opinion but I give him credit for at least explaining why he doesn't like them.

Vocals are annoying, music is repetitive and simple. Good enough? I could expand, but trapt did a good enough job for everybody.

My sister listens to them. She has decent enough tastes a la Pantera and Metallica, but seriously this is some over-produced slick bullshit that is catchy but fucking limp-wristed.

You want something catchy listen to Baroness' Yellow or A Pale Horse Named Death or the norwegian Shining or Protest the Hero's Scurrilous or Devin's Addicted or new Kylesa. All bands that are crazy fucking catchy, you'll have the choruses in your head after one listen, but they don't play generic rock music for bros.

Cape of Our Hero sounds like a better 3 Doors Down song. The structure of the song is radio rock: set up to throw the chorus hook (you tell me howwwww, I can fly awayyyyyy) at the listener a million times, with no room (beyond a short bridge) for a more complicated instrumental passage. If you like these hooks, great, but I stopped looking for hooks in music over a decade ago.

This is what I don't get, what's wrong with hooks in music? Is there something inherently wrong because a song has a catchy chorus? Shouldn't you remember a song after you hear it? Take for exmaple Dream Theater. Talented musicians absolutely but do I want to hear a 15 minute instrumental wank-fest that just goes on and on? Not so much.

Wow people's balls are in a twist on this album. Can't say I've ever heard these guys on the radio around where I live. Then again the only time my radio has ever been on is when I have friends in my car who want to listen to the mainstream garbage rap or pop thats floating around. I'll give this album a listen eventually......
