Probably. I was just thinking in terms of beating the shit out of the first person so that everybody else leaves you alone.

Gotta go for the biggest guy and take him out at the knees. I'd be fucked if I went to prison. Figuratively.

Yo people,

Trying to check back in here regularly, been away for various reasons, not going to go further into that.

Anyway, what is up? As far as my metal tastes go, I`ve been trying to explore territories I never really got into or disliked since I was about 15. In other words, power metal. Kind of failed at that, but I actually listen to bands like Kiuas, Nocturnal Rites and an Edguy song here and there. Also checking out youtube playlists regularly. Other than that..

OVERKILL

I`ve also been extremely busy at school. Not going to bother you with that though.

Hope you all are well. Cheers!

Dear Waterboy,

Eat shit and die.

Signed,
Everybody.

noods good shit. do you cook everything yourself? i really wanted to cook more since i started living alone, but i get home late and with no one to eat with me i just can't be bothered. i eat cereal/and or salad for dinner, because salad are like peel, chop it up, olive oil and vinegar and you're good to go. no cooking required.

Yeah. It's tough to get myself to start sometimes, but usually once I'm chopping stuff up I'm having fun, then when I'm eating I'm glad I did it. And I tend to make enough for three meals, don't really mind eating the same thing for a couple nights in a row. I'm very slowly learning more and expanding my repertoire... don't know much beyond pasta/chilli/soup although I can do an OK stir fry.

Now see, that would be fine if I wasn't 17 and female. I happen to care very much about what people think. It's a product of three years of high school, I think.

That's the problem though, you're letting people at school dictate what you wear or don't wear. I understand that it is much different for females as opposed to males, but I didn't let the shit heads at my school dictate what I wore or did. Life's too short to worry about what other people think.
Indeed. Also punch the first dude who says anything in the back of the head. Prison style. What patches do you got?

Will do. Thanks for the advice. :D I don't have anything at the moment except a big overkill one.

Got called "ginger kid" while playing Dota2 today. Is that an insult kids are using these days? I've heard some random shit in games before, but that takes first place.

That is pretty good, even from the Dota crowd.

And welcome back, RO.

Sitting at home on a Friday night reminds me of how difficult it is to go out where I live and how I don't have anyone really to call up and go out with. Can't wait to go back home for the summer in exactly a month.

Oh my god. I'd lose it. I'm looking forward to moving closer into DC next year, which doesn't guarantee it'll be better, but being able to take the subway and not have to drive to a bar means I will definitely have it easier in going out. I'm being productive, having read two books and written a paper today, but this blows. And the Reds lost.

I started writing the libretto for an opera about a rock band. Hopefully girlfriend will write the music. (She says it has to be a 4/5 though!) It's gonna be good. Outline is done (5 characters, 2 acts, 4 scenes) and now I'm about to start on the words.

got an email from my old university... not from them, but from an alumni working with them. rather odd message.

it's about the Financial Times survey of master's in management graduates. FT ranks master's in management programmes every year. the key figure in compiling the ranking is graduates' salaries. the school sort of asked us to "in case of doubt" revise our figures upwards.

i can see why they would want this, but to explicitly ask people to do it was very stupid. i wouldn't want to risk such a message being leaked and commented and ridiculed in a few days.

our old master's coordinator said gaming rankings like FT and others was discussed fairly openly among people in her position, and that there were even seminars you could go to covering this topic. one example that got tossed around a lot was a european school that would favour applications from south american students, as one of the key variables was 'salary increase after the programme' - if they got jobs in europe the school would excel in this area.

Holy shit. I'm now super curious.

about what?

mind you i really like my school, just didn't like the message they sent.

i do think the methodology is a bit skewed towards schools in richer countries. a Portuguese graduate who gets a job at, say, the local office of a top international consultancy, probably makes less money than an French graduate at a local consumer goods company. it's not just about salary, it's also about cost of life where you work - Lisbon is probably the cheapest capital in western Europe. even the 'best' graduate jobs in Portugal will probably only pay as much as an average placement in other WE countries. this isn't reflected in the ranking.

'quality of employer' (reputation, wages, selectiveness) is another one, but it's damn near impossible to quantify so doesn't figure into rankings. plus, maybe you just want to work at a less selective company.

one could argue that the best graduates from any top university would get jobs in central business cities - London, Paris, etc. - so they'd get a high 'central' wage, regardless of where they studied, but there are countless reasons why one would choose stay closer to home.

but between the usefulness of university rankings and the methodologies behind them, we'd be here all day :P

how do I feel today? fucking miserable which is rapidly becoming the norm for me, not that I want to bore everyone with my problems or anything

on a lighter note I did hear some hilariously bad death/grind/slam band today, apparently though the band decided that the sound which exits the front door is far less br00tal then that which exits the rear especially after what I can only assume was one incredibly spicy and dodgy take-away curry
