Met a guy who teaches ESL at a French language school here. He did his M.A. in Philosophy at the University of Victoria, got a SSHRC and accepted to University of Toronto ("achieving all his goals"), but then dropped out of his PhD after two years because he hated it.

I'm feeling pretty satisfied about life. I have goals for the future that are exciting and achieving them doesn't seem too difficult or overwhelming.

I think it's just forums in general declining, rather than this one in particular. Very much a generational thing - we have formed a fairly stable group of posters here, with the odd addition or subtraction, and it's obvious that with time and age people are going to find other things to spend their time on. I joined the forum over eight years ago, amazing I'm still around at all really.

imo the forum is too subsectioned for the amount of posting and the website would look and function better using a blogspot theme.

Also more interviews because I've never googled reviews for an album but I search for interviews with bands I like all the time.

All is good! Though honestly I don't listen to too much thrash these days... I still love the classics but I'm having a hard time getting excited about anything new in the scene. Even the new Overkill album which everyone loved left me kind of cold.

How's everything with you (and you, Goat, DW and noodles)? It is sad to see the forum dying, but as Goat says, very few forums do well these days... The internet's moved on to other things. It's hard to believe that most of us joined this forum 9 years ago (and I hung around for a bit on the really sketchy forum setup before this)...I had great times here talking with you all, discovering new music, and making fun of Stefan and Eyesore. It's nice to see that there are still a few coming back here.

Life's good. Just moved house a few weeks ago, so hopefully will have a bit more time for posting my crazy, easily-mocked thoughts and thoroughly respectable reviews now. Have settled into a rhythm of seeing the ladyfriend every other weekend (distance relationships, yay) and this is an off weekend, so if I don't get several reviews done this weekend I'm a useless sod... Getting drunk in front of Skyrim last night probably didn't help, but hey.

and those two, 9 years later, are still at it. maybe one day they'll have the whole forum just to themselves, like the island on Lost.

i'm working in Brazil (near Sao Paulo), and have not been very excited by metal lately, save for a few acts here and there.

I'm getting wasted tonight, so whatever happens isn't my fault.

I think you're right. I've noticed other forums I like being on decline - these are on as varied topics as aviation, wargaming and politics.

I much prefer forums than Facebook/Twitter which have no appeal and no concentration of topic focus.
