an incredible coincidence (imo) happened yesterday. the company where i am working requires a loan (for, like, investment, not some emergency stuff :dio:), so a bank sent a team over from Sao Paulo (our office is 40km away) to go over a proposal with us.

one of the team members was extremely hot, and she mentioned that she did an exchange in Coimbra (Portuguese city famous for its university and academic spirit). i got her business card and obviously looked her up on facebook, and would you believe it, she's friends with my only friend from Coimbra. small world.

i also found out she's committed... bah.

Story of my week. Danced with a chick all Friday night, she Facebooked me the next day and has a boyfriend. Went out Saturday night to the bar with a girl who I learned has a boyfriend a month ago, but she is still cool insofar as she'll watch the fights with me. I get a waitresses phone number at the bar. She has a boyfriend. I'm now thinking about it and my situation is totally bullshit. Girls with boyfriends need to stop doing these things that girls with boyfriends are doing. Just saying if my girlfriend danced like that girl was on me and if my girlfriend gave out her phone number to random dude at the bar saying how cute she was and calling her out for eyeing him, I'd be livid.

Two more classes and Thursday I'll be on my first round of spring break and I'm headed home to Cincy!

well that sucks. that's never happened to me, to be honest, but then again i don't go out 'hunting' half as often as you.

i was talking mostly about the coincidence, i mean, what are the odds? and man she was so fine. hot bank finance chick

Is that like a thing, like I get all hot and bothered about chicks into metal and chicks who like books? Do econ folks get all flustered over ladies that can crunch numbers and calculate interest like it ain't no thang?

for me it's just like that, yeah. ultimately it's about having something in common.

like if you meet some particle physicist girl or doctor girl, she's probably pretty smart, which is always a good thing, but it's a different kind of smart than economics and shit.

Just deal with it, yo. Not counting the weekend, I'd say on average I get drunk around twice a week. And I don't mean a couple of beers, I mean honest-to-goodness, brain-damage inducing, paralytic drunk. Still make it to work 8:30am the next day.

If I had class today, I would have had from 8pm last night till 3pm today to read 300 pages. Going to the bar would have thrown a huge wrench in that plan. I go to class drunk like it ain't no thang. The problem would have been unprepared and had no idea what we were talking about. But alas, snow day happened. My friend who is ex-military calls me at 8am to see if I want to do something today because she has a snow day too given that she works at a national park. Four hours of sleep, but I guess I'm going to the Quantico museum today. Silence of the Lambs FTW. I'm so not suitable to be on a military base.

say see you soon lol

moved yesterday. my new place is completely empty, the previous owner even took the outside pipes for the shower. slept on the floor yesterday, just bought a pillow and blanket and used some bubble wrap as a really shitty bed.

buying a mattress today, and a washer, fridge, stove and some other shit over the next few days. this sucks.

MOVING IS AWFUL

going to spend about 2000 Reais on appliances and general house shit, hopefully they'll deliver it all in a couple of days.

no internet yet. it'll take like a week until they send someone over to install the line or whatever. probably the worst part about moving.

some considerations on Brazil
- shopping here is absolutely infuriating. they have the slowest cashiers i have ever seen, and the shoppers don't help either. SO. FUCKING. SLOW.
- the weather in Sao Paulo will drive you crazy. beautiful, sunny mornings and afternoons, and thunderstorms on most days after about 6pm. saturday it got downright biblical, in less than 10 minutes the water was higher than the sidewalk and getting to your ankles. the winter season is dry, though, and shouldn't drop below 10 degrees Celsius so it should be ok.
- brazilian junk food is awful. "but azrael it's junk food lol" no but like you want to get a hot dog or a taco or whatever and it's cheap, unhealthy and delicious. here's it's cheap and unhealthy but tastes like fucking shit. esfihas are like mini pizzas, closed or open, but it's like 90% bread instead of stuffing, kibbes are some lebanese-inspired fried meat things that are dry and taste awful, their versions of Portugal's rissol is mostly fried bread/batter and pastéis are fried pockets of air with just a bit of stuffing. it's all fried, all bread, and all fucking awful. the street food in Mexico was much, much better than this.
- they put peas on a pizza and call it a Portuguesa. fuck that shit. we don't do that and peas on a pizza are absolutely vile.
- food-wise, on the positive side, the 'table food' is delicious and varied. the meat is ridiculously good and tropical fruits are much cheaper than back home.

Today I feel like a varnished turnip on the verge of a major output increase but not anything like a nuclear powerplant. Maybe only wind farm level.

Good times indeed.
