Just one of those days where I'd easily press the "BLOW THE WORLD TO SHIT" button and then enjoy a glass of pinot gris just before the nuclear blast turns me and the rest of this fucked race into ash.

Also why do so many fat obese people turn out to be awful human beings?

Some of the nastiest fucks I've ever met have been obese.

Yeah. Perhaps with an escape rocket on standby for me, though.

Probably because of the "nasty fucks" that constantly ridicule them for being obese. It is like a vicious circle!

Yeah I guess. Pretty rare for me not to have a huge rooting interest, so I just watched the game and enjoyed it, barring the typical no calls at the end of the game.

Favorite moment was when Simms was talking about Ray Lewis and how when he came up (how could he not...) most people at the Super Bowl used the word hate to describe him.

Also funny how by the second half both defenses could not stop the offenses, a pretty common theme throughout the playoffs where defenses were basically at the mercy of the offense coordinator: basically praying the offenses ran it instead of throwing it down the field. The NFL is pretty out of balance at the moment, and I know they've tried to call more offensive pass interference penalties this year but it still isn't enough: way too many push offs lead to wide open receivers.

Do you think that was defensive pass interference in the endzone on Crabtree? At this point in the game, all that was left in the room were Ravens' fans and they weren't conceding the point to me. It was on the five yard line so any bumping in the endzone would have been outside of the five yard bump. Eh, whatever.

I was really torn between rooting for the homophobes and the team that was cool with murder albeit also cool with gay folks.

I really think that these aggressive, athletic quarterbacks burn the defensive lines' energy, which prevents them from putting pressure on the pocket late in the game. Atlanta was just getting burnt by the Seahawks' Wilson a few playoff games back for that reason, I think.

I spent yesterday with my girlfriend and my best friend. It was really great. Walked through a park and along a beach, built rock sculptures, introduced gf to the best vegetarian restaurant, and then walked along the seawall. lovely times

Definitely something that would have been flagged midway through the game, but not at the end of the game. One of several problems with Goodell's modern NFL.

You might be on to something with running QBacks tiring out defenses, but either way, offense trumps defense at an embarrassing rate right now, and the NFL would do well to further address offensive PI enforcement as a way to redress the balance.

Funny thing is I've never treated anyone differently due to their size. Hell I live in Australia where most of the population is technically overweight.

But despite being treated with the same amount of respect as anyone else, many obese people I have met have truly nasty streaks.

And once they're in their thirties and forties, one expects slightly more mature behaviour.

Just because you haven't doesn't mean that everyone up until that point in their life hasn't.

Edit: Lowering your standards is how you get the girls.

And that's a licence to behave like an arsehole?

No one said that. But it doesn't simply end when the bully leaves. I was a 'fat' kid until my teens, and wore hilarious goggle glasses as well. Was I bullied? Somewhat. Did it affect my personality? Sure, I'd say it nudged me in the shy/asocial direction.

Would I have gone in that direction anyway? Interesting question, which I am not qualified to answer, but my best guess is yes, I'm not a people person generally. But to the degree that I ended up "not a people person"? Maybe that is where the 'nudging' of past bad experiences pushes people further, rather than down, certain paths.

Surely you've noticed that many 'beautiful' people tend towards both narcissism and/or sociability? Appearance becomes an internalized aspect of personality.

I've been a skinny person all my life and I'm also not a people person.

However I generally behave politely and with respect even towards people I don't like.

It takes a lot to push me towards arseholism - and it's interesting that the people who usually do this to me are obese or at least on the verge of obesity.

Maybe I'm alergic to fat people?

Or at least fat arseholes.

Yup!

I have a feeling that I might be heading towards Classics but that'd be a long road since idk Greek or Latin at all so I'd have to make up a bunch of ground there.

Just rehearsed dance routine with the choir we're performing with. Iffy results but the way forward is now clear, and we have a recording with a consistent tempo to practice with and get things down on Thursday. I'm excited. It'll be fun. Meeting friends to talk about our writing projects tomorrow. Opera after the practice Thursday. Busy and fun week.

You may or may not have to show competency in a language in order to get your Master's so if so learn Greek. The cool thing about grad school is that reading language courses will be offered over the summer. I've taken a single summer and learned all of my French grammar enough to translate things. If you can demonstrate that kind of competency then you should be able to get accepted and perfect it as you move through your doctorate.

I've been eating better and working out consistently since getting back to Virginia. Two weeks later, I'm feeling rather good. I got a bunch of books in the mail for my own personal research so I'm really going to start cracking down and trying to send some stuff out and get published in the next few years. Read now, be able to write over the summer, and mail stuff out in the fall is my planned trajectory for now.
