Weakest link? Wow, you have some serious bias. Dicaprio is among the best actors working today. Everything he has been in is better thanks to him. Even his role in Titanic was amazing.

Then again, you think Infernal Affairs is 10 times better than The Departed Let me guess, you love Oldboy and all those silly revenge films, and of course, Battle Royale is so fucking kewl.

quite like DiCaprio, he's cool. the goddamn cinema was full when i wanted to catch Django, might try again this week.

Am very happy that everyone thinks it is great though, can't wait to see it. I am however not looking forward to the asshole teenagers that will undoubtedly fill the cinema.

Alright, I might have been a little too rough on the fella, I just think some of those movies could have worked better with someone, I don't know, more of a character. Whenever I see him angry or screaming at someone in a movie, it blows.

And yes, Infernal Affairs IS 10x better than that sellout/plot holed/lScorsese's last nail in the coffin/ The Departed. WTF happened to you Martin? I thought he was above all that Hollywood idiocracy.

just saw The Intouchables. it's quite ok, although it takes some effort to accept just how forgiving the wheelchair guy is of the other guy's not giving of fucks, and the other guy's not giving of fucks. there's not being condescending to wheelchair guy, and then there's not giving a fuck.

other than that, and the mandatory rich white guy and poor black guy have differing but obviously clichéd musical tastes scenes, i found it quite enjoyable.

But QT really does suck besides Pulp Fiction. He is extremely, extremely overrated at best.

Of course he does. But I was trying to make a joke, rather than be a meanie about it.

Though, I think I irrationally hate him for Grindhouse at this point.

Can people have rational discussion on these movies though? Whenever I see it online it comes down to "Asian Film Snobs" vs "Scorsese/Leo fanboys".

I preferred Infernal Affairs, but Scorsese's film isn't bad. My big problem with it is the length: but I no longer have patience for the long movies generally, so that just might be my problem. Some other issues I had were his awkward merging of the two female leads into one, which left me with some serious questions over some of the characters' motivations, and also the uncontrollable Nicholson and his silly over the top performance. Oh and Wahlberg is only good at telling dick jokes.

But how Scorsese's movie was shot? Nope, no complaints there. A very different, (maybe better?) counterpoint to the glamorous skyscrapers of Hong Kong: a lot of ugly, worn down parts of "Boston" and NYC. That and DiCaprio, yes DiCaprio's performance, make it decent film, though not, imo, one of Scorsese's best.

Tony Leung was brilliant in the original movie, and few American actors could play that character (imagine Wahlberg, haha!), so it was a good casting call on the lead.

Not at all. I just fucking hate, and I mean H A T E remakes of a three year old foreign movies.

Boo, Inglorious Basterds was terrific. Reservoir Dogs, Jackie Brown and Kill Bill 1 were all great too. And I don't get the Grindhouse hatred - Death Proof was dull as ditchwater, true, but Planet Terror and the trailers were lots of fun. Overrated as in best director ever? Sure. But still a very very good one.

Correction. Not remake, The Departed isn't one. It's a RIPOFF !

Why do people complain about remakes? Bitching on an Internet forum will not stop people from remaking the shitty movies nobodies ever heard of that you think are cool.

Cloud Atlas - 8/10. Gripped me throughout. Tom Hanks is actually way better than I ever thought.

There is your answer. I liked the trailers too, and at least Planet Terror had pace; however, QT was only responsible for Death Proof, he had nothing to do with the trailers or the Rodriguez movie. Take the QT out of Grindhouse and it would have been enjoyable; I misspoke originally when I mentioned Grindhouse because I forgot the name of QT's debacle.
