Dissection - Where Dead Angels Lie

9/10 - I've always loved Dissection, up there with Satyricon.

Deathspell Omega - Dearth/Phosphene
Still not a big fan of bm vocals but the music DsO produces make it worth the effort. 6,5/10

Mammatus - Dragon of the Deep. 5/10. Didn't love it. Didn't hate it. A little wanky. Never had the tempo change that I need doom to have.

Axel Rudi Pell - Before I Die

didn't much care for the vocals, or the cheesy lyrics but musically that was, at times, pretty good, not something I would regularly listen to but I didn't hate it 5/10

neither trapt nor north will like this one I suspect

I guess it's neat that Orphaned Land are trying to do new things and use their roots/folk music in metal but it all sounds super pompous and silly to me. I hate synths in metal and those voiceovers are inexcusable. First I was gonna criticize this for being a long guitar solo but when the choir came in I missed the guitar. Long plodding, no real hook or riffs to speak of, hefty melodramatic mood but nothing underneath. 2/10

They do to jazz pop the same A7X did with heavy metal. Whether it's good or bad is opened to interpretation, I, for once, have no patience for this kind of thing anymore and loathed the singer particularily. 2/10

Now, boys, this is serious:

Gattaca - Gulag

started out as navel gazing but eventually morphed into bleak black metal. I know the tag says hardcore/crust but the guitars are clearly of the BM variety. Good stuff.

8/10

Sir Lord Baltimore - Master Heartache
Soo good, early hard/heavy rock at it's almost finest. 8/10. I'm kind of a sucker for this kind of stuff.

The Stooges - 1969
It kinda sounds soft in 2012 but still a good song by an important band. 6,5/10

Hawkwind/Motorhead - 5/10 .. kind of slow and not that original .. but I like Lemmy's vocals.

Motorhead/Motorhead - 6/10 .. Better (I like the verse) .. but .. still very 50's rock'n'roll. They've done a lot better. Good to hear for historical value.

Rigor Mortis - Vampire
Great thrashy-shreaddy intro leading into okay crossover thrash. I don't like the vocals and the song is just okay.
8/10 for the intro
4,5/10 for the rest of the song
6/10 for the whole thingy
