The random shootings in the U.S. deeply disturb and trouble me. I can't even begin to fathom the distress and severe despair the parents of the children are going through. Have we sunk so low in our humanity that sending children to school has become a worry of high order?

There is something very wrong in this country (and no it's not guns; that's the lazy cop-out answer, it runs much deeper than that).

Our culture is getting more and more sick every day.
Greed, materialism and selfish egocentrism mixed with an increasingly depraved and callous culture seems to be the road we are on.
It seems the further we remove ourselves from what is natural and good, the more neurotic our society gets.

The US is like a man whose body is riddled with disease, yet he still manages to keep his shoes polished.

This event hit home with me, because of what happened in Norway 22 July last year when Anders Behring Breivik bombed the Labour Party building killing 8 people and then went on to massacre 69 teenagers and children who apparently were guilty of "cultural marxism". I suppose you could say that this was our 9/11.

It troubles me as well; I just walked my son to class this morning (as I do every day) before going to work.

I don't know, man, this stuff is happening a lot.

In the absence of our esteemed friend trapt, let me just say that while yes, I do agree that the problem runs much deeper than that, guns certainly don't help.

If the guy who did this only had access to a knife, I dare say he would have caused significantly less death.

That's an excellent and bald analogy. We live in an age of decadence which is going down the drains of pure morbidity. Life now, and the systematic mechanical ways of at least North America and the states are just a drop in the vast and troubling, disturbed minds of these severely ill-minded people that take part in these atrocious actions. It seems the more the human psyche of the 21st is evolving, it is taking a direction of a dark nature at its very core. You're right. It's not just because guns are such a regular thing in the States. It's such a complex matter at heart that any psychological or philosophical "interpretation" of the matter would be a glance at the truth. Us as human beings can only observe the corruption, the struggle for order and the idealism that the U.S. government is striving to achieve which I might add is going absolutely no where with a bright destination.

Thats true. But if someone really wanted to, they can make explosives, nailbombs, firebombs,pipe-bombs etc. without too much money and effort.
Fact is, guns are not going anywhere, that Pandora's box is open and can't be closed... other countrys have firearms, yet they don't experience these things. It's something in our core that has turned rotten, eating it's way out like cancer. At what point this disease took hold, I don't know, but we weren't always like this.

That's a pretty accurate analysis from where I sit.
I don't know about other Western societys, but here in the States, people are more isolated from their humanity than ever before in my lifetime, at least. Mechanical consumer culture of egeocentric instant gratification, and it's not healthy.

Shit happens here too. Look up the Eatons centre shooting from earlier this year. My buddy was at the mall when it happened.

The world is going to hell in a hand basket. Either jump on for the ride or get the fuck out of the way.

Didn't hear about that down here.
Worlds going crazy, isn't it? Seems like it's worse here, though.

Yeah.. but it still isn't remotely close to the States. Nonetheless, Montreal has its mobster struggles and the inhumanity that comes with it. The main reason I don't watch the news is that it deeply disturbs me to hear news about parents killing their infants and children.

True it doesn't happen as much here and it's never really as bad, but it still happens. I blame all the minorities living in Toronto. Seriously. They ruined Toronto and are now moving north. Where I live. More shootings, stabbings, and beatings in my town this last year than in history. And would you look at all the darkies who moved in. Coincidence? I think not.

Sorry about being racist, but its fucking disgusting.

I don't know, there are plenty of good people here, I know and encounter them all the time, but on the other hand, it seems like everybody is just getting more and more irritable and on edge.

Society is starting to crack.

Maybe we're all fucked? Maybe not now, but the descent is well on it's way by now...
