Badoom-tish!

Anthems, although obviously Nightside is godlike. Love Prometheus too, then would put IX last, never enjoy that as much.

I feel like including Nightside is a little awkward. Love it to death, but it's tricky putting another album over it. I go for IX over Anthems...

Anthems > Nightside > Prometheus > IX

Anthems literally got me into black metal, one of my all time favorites.

ITNE > Empereor (EP) > Wrath of the Tyrant > IX Equilibrium > Anthems > Prometheus

Although not Emperor, Thou shalt Suffer - Into The Woods Of Belial is also pretty good.

Swap Anthems with IX Equilibrium and I agree with cry of the banshee.

I somehow already knew Anthems and Prometheus would be at the end of your list. What I find odd (or maybe impressive) is that no one seems to hate any of their albums despite the rather large style change between all of them. Especially Prometheus.

I've heard a lot about this band on various other forums and none of it has been good, having never looked into them myself however I don't really have an opinion

just seemed odd given what I had heard about this band that people would have this discussion, listening to one of their songs on youtube now yeah decent up until youtube froze on me, I'll add them to the investigate pile but it's a big pile so they may not join the ranks of albums in my possession anytime soon

I've had religious experiences listening to In The Nightside Eclipse man.

Get out of here if you can't handle the black.

That forum where you posted the sacred cow thread? So much trolling in that thread! Somebody on every metal forum will say something bad about Maiden or Slayer or Emperor or whatever.

Personally I don't feel like getting into another debate with someone about Emperor, it has been done a million times before, and we've all probably listened to the different albums enough times to have fully formed our own opinions. Nightside has stood the test of time for me, and Prometheus has as well, despite one being black metal and one really not. The middle ones just feel like decent albums, which is fine.

black metal is no issue for me

just a small taste of my rebuilt black metal arsenal (there was some complicated circumstances leading to all my black metal being sold a few years back)

Darkthrone
Arcturus
Mayhem
Aura Noir
Dissection
Deathspell Omega
Master's Hammer
Ulver

as I said small sample

Well I would suggest downloading or buying Emperor's In the Nightside Eclipse and listening to it in it's entirety.

One of my favorite albums at the moment.
