New Cult of Luna track: http://www.metalsucks.net/2012/12/03/st ... ew-weapon/

I think it's my first time listening to them. It's alright, I guess. It has a weird ability to seem longer than it is as if it stretched out time. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. It's not like it's boringly long and drags, but it like does so much in each minute of the track.

What do we think of this new Voivod track?

http://www.metalsucks.net/2012/09/14/wh ... ath-metal/

Sounds a hell of a lot more interesting than anything on Infini, if you ask me.

EDIT: Song gets better as it goes on. I think I love it.

Heard that earlier, need more listens but sounds promising.

Arsis sounds pretty cool!

The Cult of Luna song sounded alright too, though 'm not usually a fan of that kind of thing.

New Cult of Luna,

Arsis has kinda lost me over the years, guess I'll still check it out though.

Start at the very beginning of their discography. Imo A Celebration of Guilt, A Diamond For Disease, and the very underrated United In Regret are by far their best. They kinda lost me after that.

Though these new songs are sounding pretty damn good.

Having listened to it yesterday, United in Regret isn't underrated. It's a solid B effort at best following the other two discs. Starve for the Devil is probably my second favorite to Celebration of Guilt. It is just so fucking thrashy.

I felt the same way about United in Regret for the longest time. Something about the melodies grew on me over time. However, didn't care for Starve at all, that was not what I was looking for from an Arsis album at all. Way too....poppy.

I love errything but We Are the Nightmare, which has cool songs but annoying drummer and awful drum sound. Never thought United in Regret was a step down. Starve didn't grab me as much as the first two but I wrote that off as my waning interest in death metal.

United in Regret is overall good, but just not great. The second half of the album really picks it up a bit. It's an 85 to Celebration being a 95. Nightmare is decent, but it really is the drumming. They are just off. I was headbanging to it to the other day and the riff/solo was obviously doing something and the drumming was just not doing what it should be. That's a weird criticism so yeah the drum sound sucks as well. I just loved the kind of hair metal vibe that Starve had. It was such an easy album to get into while having the technicality to make it have lasting appeal.

Nightmare has consistency issues. There are some really awesome songs and then a bunch of meh songs. I do agree the drumming sounds a bit odd on that one but it never killed it for me. I have to admit these new songs sound great. A nice return to form of brutal and technical death metal spiced up with some catchy melodies.

Completely agree with this assessment. Especially the part about the drumming.
