My interest in Jazz started with metal bands that are heavily influenced by jazz, particularly Cynic and Atheist, so I'm pretty newbie. As for some examples, I've been listening to a lot of Miles Davis and Herbie Hancock the past 6 months or so.

That's a bloody elitist point of view, you two, not to mention stupid! Fusion is separate from Jazz. People who listen to Fusion are not looking for a different kind of jazz. They are enjoying music that happens to incorporate elements of jazz.

Mahavisnu Orchestra, Brand X, Pierre Moerlen era Gong....all brilliant, fantastic bands. They're not trying to play jazz. They're playing something else entirely!

It's not elitist at all. Fusion serves the same purpose as some bands do with metal. It's a starting point for people who know zilch about jazz and want to explore it through something vaguely familiar. I, myself, started with bands like Sixun, Uzeb, etc, which are not (to say the least) the cream of the crop (even when it comes to jazz's bastard offspring, fusion) and, thus, know fusion to be a good entry point to a music not so easily handled.
Well, it all changed for me with Coltrane's Giant Steps, a change for the best, that is.

As for the names you mentioned, I don't consider any of these bands to be fusion but prog fusion and, trust me, it's another thing entirely, and great bands too (especially Gong).

I just can't stand fusion. Trying to play virtuoso music on electric/amplified instruments always sounds really lame to me. There should be a restraining order against electric basses and guitars on jazz albums. Or there's too much emphasis on shows of skill/complexity and not enough on improvisation and danceableness. Not sure. There's probably exceptions. Like the Hellborg/Shawn/Sipe albums. Those are pretty good.

Supposedly a new Amon Amarth at some point in 2013, they announced it with a meme....Between their last offering and the meme, I have insanely low expectations for this one.

Post the meme.

They didn't post it, they just re-shared it from some guy who posted it on their page. As for the meme itself:

Also memes are painfully overdone and if you still use them you should feel bad.

I don't use them, just wanted to see this one in particular because I thought it was band-made.

We Butter the Bread with Butter is a German deathcore band from Lübben noted for their heavy use of electronic music characteristics.

-Wiki-

It seems all the deathcore bands with electronic have stupid names, like IWABO.
