Edit: about Dso. As a band they evolved immensely from Inquisitors of Satan to SMRC. The intellectual approach to the concept is undeniable. In the interview done by AJNA offensive they said that all the design must be coherent, the evolution of the musical aspect must be followed by a evolution of the visual and philosophical parts, I couldn't agree more. Most bands in metal have great music, but the lyrics and artwork are childish or bad written, DsO aren't. In the last two albums they moved their sound away from SMRC and I find that sad, but we shouldn't be surprised for that evolution if we hear the Kenose EP.

Agreed with Alex. DsO are excellent and are the very definition of progression alongside with a band like Emperor.

Just listen to the music. If it moves you, keep listening. Personally, I love these guys and would put them somewhere near the top of the heap.

I have no problem with people disagreeing with the review, the score and whatever else, it's a matter of taste as DI mentioned, and I've been rataing things higher and lower this year. This is one of those bands that reaches out an grabs me, which is part of what I base my review on. Subjective? Yes. Biased? Probably. But I really don't care.

lol you act as if Enslaved unnaturally progressed from their pure black/viking roots. For like popularity, or something. Because black metal is totally all the rage with the hipster intellectuals.

Their sound slowly evolved into what it is today, which is very different but no less awesome than Vikingligr Veldi and Frost (and my personal favorite, Eld).

I put Enslaved up there with Opeth and Immolation. A unique metal band that has been around for a very long time and has never put out a bad album. Hence, metal gods.

This is a great album given to us by a great band. I find it hard to say anything else.
