Not nearly high enough for that.

I don't even know how to score it.

The Machine - Jam no. Phi. I can see why you dig it. Kinda a cool jam band vibe to it. Like you said probably not high enough to love it. 5/10.

Horseback - Ahriman. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=okj2Y_GHRBs

the youtube does make it sound worse than it should. Their other songs that are more song like are better, but smokin a pipe to that 11 minute jam is awesome.

I actually didn't mind that album when it first came out. That song not one of my favorites on it, though. Amott brothers riffs are still solid. Gossow's vocals are what they are. A little forced, but they serve the music. It was kinda the beginning of the downturn of Arch Enemy sadly. Now in listening to it, it just seems so cheesy. Five years ago, 8/10. These days, 3/10.

Magnus Pelander - You Have Got No Friends To Turn To

Wow, I loved it. Understated beginning with a delicate voice for a delicate melody. Then the riff, and it's pure sabbath. Then the speed up, and it's all good. Very old fashioned song progression, but if ain't broke don't fix it! 8.5/10

Now: Transatlantic - Evermore

Yeah those Horseback vocals being all black metal-y might be a tough sale for you.

Magnus Pelander - You Have Got No Friends To Turn To. I love stuff like this. I hope it's not new and I hope that it's old because if it's some retro-y indie act I'll cry. OH MY GOD THAT HEAVIER RIFF JUST KICKED IN. I want this. All of it.

8/10.

As soon as it picked up at the end I added the album to my amazon cart. I fucking love this music.

Dude, listen to the album Firewood by Witchcraft. You will love it.

edit - it's new by the way, it's the guy from Witchcraft solo project. Hence why I suggest the Witchcraft album to you. And really, who gives a fuck when it came out? If you like, and it's good, then the release date is just a number. You download all your shit anyway, so who cares where it came from or when?

With the first half, I thought it might be some new dude trying to make a dime off of rehashing Van Morrison to hipsters. I was glad to be wrong.

Intro begins with some overproduced dual melodied double bass buildup, and then in comes the generic Amon Amarth-esque vocals with the groove buttrock riffs and keyboards in the background. The riffs themselves sound like throwaway Xerath riffs and couple that with keyboard oversaturation, and you have a shitty melodic death band that rivals Scar Symmetry for overall gayness. The riffs have all been done before, this is something that Nuclear Blast must've forgotten cirque 2005. Fuck this garbage.

Almost too easy to review, frantic drumming the guy is just a beast with those double bass pedals its like rapid machinegunfire into a bunch of mannequins. Travis's vocals are less menacing overall compared to the other tracks on the album, overall one of the lesser songs on the album but still solid.
