Yeah he's only been front and center on one album in the last 25 years. Nice to see them bring the old bastard back.

New Deftones is out, haven't heard it yet myself but I'm excited. Can't say they've ever disappointed.

Listening to it right now and it seems decent, I really like the ambient and some of the post rock moments off of their first few songs. Definitely going to buy a copy if they have it in stock when i go out of town tomorrow.

It gets better with multiple listens. It didn't blow me away the first time around but it definitely grows on you. So far on metacritic it's getting rave reviews and some are saying it's their best album to date.

Apparently Sodom entered the studio in May to record their new album. Anybody know anything about this?

No. Really? Amazing. That excites me much more than the new Destruction, gotta say.

In War and Pieces was awesome. Not to mention the last 3 before that!

In War and Pieces was pretty weak. Sodom was good, and M-16 is classic.

Nobody tops Destruction for me, except maybe Tankard.

The self titled was better than good. I fucking love that album.

I love Destruction, but they kinda plateaued for me a couple of albums ago. I'm still gonna buy everything they put out, but I'm not especially exicted about it, that's all. I'm pretty sure we've had this discussion at some stage....either that or it's deja vu.

Anyway, Sodom may not be as vicious as they used to be, but at I least feel like they're making an effort to change it up a little from album to album.

I'll admit the last Destruction, was pretty by the numbers stuff. A few decent tunes throughout, but overall a forgettable album. But D.E.V.O.L.U.T.I.O.N. was awesome. Inventor of Evil was decent, Metal Discharge was blah, The Antichrist another classic, and All
Hell Breaks Loose was nice when I first heard it, but hasn't aged too well. So really, I'm not that hugely a fan of their new stuff either. But when they are on, they fuckin thrash with the best of them. I think my love for them is the fact that their 80s output is top 5 all time for me and I've seen them live more than any other band. Met Schmier a few times too.

New Sodom is just too melodic for me. Same problem I have with new Kreator, but at last Kreator can keep that aggressive edge to them. Sodom just sound like old dudes trying to keep up. Which is cool because every new album at least has some killer tunes on there. But no way can I do one of the 2 newest beginning to end. Especially the new one. That fucking poetry song is garbage.

Destruction have always sucked compared to either Kreator or Sodom. I'd take them over legions of American shit thrash acts, but they've always been undeservingly lumped with those two great bands.

Nah, man. That's going too far. They've lost their mojo a bit these last few years but they used to be legendary as fuck. Even though, as I said, I prefer latter day Sodom, I'd still take the first few Destruction albums over the first few Sodom albums.

Sodom was a bit shit there in the early days.

hearing rumours of new Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Iron Maiden albums in 2013, Chris Broderick (Megadeth) seems to be talking quite a bit about "vicious" new riffs

Is that the new way of telling people if they like it or not? V didn't like it, but Stefan did. Zad was on the fence while dead1 loathed it. Bar thinks its decent but noodles can't stand it.

You may like it.

Igorrr does his own sick, weird version of electronic music. It will appeal to metalheads opened to that sort of thing.

Btw, Trapt, I didn't know he had released this, thanks for the heads up.
