Nah I think most metalheads feel the same way generally.
I'd be curious if there exists someone who just love technicality for the sake of itself. A person who really wanks it to Braindrill and Obscura all day.

actually yeah I have briefly encountered someone like that on another forum, he was promoting this tech-death band (their name escapes me) who were astonishing from a technical standpoint but absolute garbage at songwriting and he said he really dislikes bands that aren't overtly tech

Hey Obscura is fucking awesome. Braindrill is the perfect example though, that is absolute nonsense.

I wouldn't go that far I'd say about 30% of tech metal bands are worth checking out, those that have strong songwriting sense, the rest however are garbage
