Could you guys give me some suggestions as to what to check out in said genre?

I like stuff like Fleet Foxes, Saybia, Lissie, Midlake and the like.

So if i you could suggest something in the vein of the above mentioned bands would be great...it could be poppish rock or folk or whatever you feel like mentioning.

Thanks guys :dio:

Yes - Relayer

I have no clue about the artists/bands you've mentioned but in terms of "good instrumental" music with surreal vocalizations this album is quite fitting.

Okay. So I won't actually waste your time. How about Harry Nilsson's "The Point"

Actually, Addy, Harry Nilsson is a good suggestion but I'd go with 1971's Nilsson Schmilsson, his finest in my opinion.

Check out an album by Chad VanGaalen called Soft Airplane. It's very folky, very modern, a little poppy. I think it fits with the stuff you mentioned.

Also check out an aussie band called Cloud Control. Their debut Bliss Release also fits quite well with what you described. It's folky and rocky with elements of pop as well.

Also anything by Devandra Banhart might fit the description as well.

Obviously the Fleet Foxes sound like a modern version of Simon and Garfunkel .. if you haven't checked out their catalog you may as well.

I'm just getting into Nick Drake.
That counts, right?

These guys use a lot of not-guitar (banjos, mandolins, that sort of thing), but they're acoustic and folky and I am obsessed with them lately.

(Toss similar musics recommendations my way if you think of any.)
