Since Alex started a MR Weed-Smoking Brigade (which I promptly joined), I thought about thris thread about the best possible metal to listen to when "under the influence"... Not necessarilly metal about weed à la Cannabis Corpse but music trippy enough to support/augment the effect of Jah's magical herb.

So what are your favorite weed-smoking metal sounds? And are weed and metal compatible in your experience?

I think they're highly compatible given the amount of headway the stuff already has in metal culture, a lot of bands probably smoke the stuff during the creative process how else do you explain the stoner genre and a lot of more recent non-traditional doom output? Its been around on everything from Sweet Leaf by Black Sabbath to being featured on trashy Six feet Under and Pantera shirts, I just see the herb as being a natural part of the music and I accept it for what it is. I don't even smoke it either, but it has its place in the music unless you are some SXE loser.

Answering to your question: OF COURSE! every art-related activity will be enhanced by smoking weed. That's a fact. And sex too (but what do I know, I'm a virgin, and don't get horny with explosions  ).

Two of my best friends actually are SXE which, at 40 years old, is a tad ridiculous.

You must be very ancient then. People's been smoking weed for hundreds of years, maybe thousands.

Thousands! In some branch in Hinduism smoking hashish is a ritualistic process of an every day nature. I voted "Highly compatible." I loved it when I smoked it. And I agree maybe once in a while is the best doze considerable.

We should get together and light one up to the sound of the almighty SweetLeaf.

Obviously it is - Electric Wizard, for one, let alone Sleep, High On Fire, Kyuss, etc etc. But whether you need weed to enjoy music is a different issue...

As a person who smoked bongs every day for 10 years, I can quite comfortably say that weed is compatible with every sort of music ever played or conceived of.

Listening to something you don't quite enjoy? Spark up a cone. You'll be finding aspects to appreciate in no time.
