Of course it's possible, I never meant to imply that girls should shut up about male subjects, but yes, they completely overreacted. The only reputation I have is for being direct and blatant about my opinions, and I think my frequent criticism of Islam gets seen as "racism". The editorial team in particular is quite PC, especially that Anne-Claire girl (apparently it was sexist for me to point out that the feminism movement creates its own standards and discrimination by considering some women "not real feminists"), but I'd have thought they might not completely ignore the other side of the discussion simply because OMG SEXIST!

"How dare you have an opinion on 'feminism', you man!" Yep, been there before...

Aye, that's about it. Bummer as well, because I do really like the paper and I like writing for it, and now that everyone really hates me it'll be difficult to get anything published... Might have to stick to sports.

What's worse is that most of these people (especially the girls) have never come into contact with real, actual, serious sexism, and if they knew the kind of stuff that I hear around my pub (I've been made gaffer there by the way, for the summer) and heard the utter bollocking some of the punters get from me for outrageous opinions, they'd have a very different idea of me. But no, a slight misunderstanding and a badly formulated attempted stinger and it's a crime against humanity. For fuck's sake.

I sympathize, and we need to ban all social networks.

Yes, people do anything to appear intelligent and cool on facebook. Here in Sweden it's basically social suicide to say anything bad about our retarded immigration policies. People over here are so afraid of coming off as racist that they'd gladly watch their country turn to shit, simply to gain a few points with their retarded social circles.

lol let that be a lesson to you!

No, the whole facebook/radio show thing probably won't last forever (or it might!), but Audio Renaissance has kind of evolved into my take on music and my belief in it. No matter how watered down one style gets or how many times something gets repeated, there is always something new to discover right around the corner. And even then, what is old to my ears will sound new and fresh to my son when the time comes, and therefore music is reborn all over again.

Had a 19 year old cutey pie come look at my room for rent today. She said she can move in next month. She even hung out with me for like 2 hours afterwards. We smoked 2 bowls and just talked, my dog was all over her and usually he doesn't take too kindly to strangers in the house.

I'm quite happy about all this.

Also, Brian Regan is a very funny man.

That's sweet, Wali! Wish I had a cute girl hang out with me. I'm really fed up with how chicks in their early 20's act, though. So unsure about life. They really do not know what they want in life and confuse you as a result.

So here's my story:
This chick comes to where I work to get some food. A couple of meaningful smiles here and there the first time but nothing outstanding. On Monday she came by and smiled again. Then, she started talking to me without my initiation. She said: "the way you hand this work is memorizing." So you know, a flirtish kind of compliment that is very nice. And then she started talking about how she lost her voice at concert she went to and how she had a great weekend. Apparently she was at the same concert that I was a few months back. An Enslaved show actually. In any case, she talked and told about herself without me really asking any questions. Then she told me she'll be gone for a little while to this Trance Festival but she'll see me after she comes back. So you know, like any other guy would think, I, naturally as guy who is attracted to the opposite sex, "thought" that she is interested in me. So the next day I go to her work because she had told where she works (obviously) and, we talk for a little bit. So the next natural step would be to ask for her phone number, and I did, but her reply was: "Oh, I have a boyfriend, but I am looking for a buddy." So that kind of surprised the hell out of me.

I mean what the fuck is going inside a chick's mind? I have some theories but I don't feel like explaining myself more than I have. So much for my damned luck.
This happened to me recently. When I came into her work a month later, she was super prego so don't sweat it. Like Zad said, people sometimes just flirt with no interest.

True true. I did lol at what you said. I got into it on facebook about the whole Tosh/rape business and lo and behold, twenty minutes later and I was defending rapists as if we should care about their feelings. Trendy casual feminism annoys me. Feminist theory is where it's at.

Oh no, I was slightly disappointed for maybe one minute and then it was all over. I'm way too old to get disappointed by tiny things like that.

Agree with them on the point (it is, strictly speaking, possible for girls to appreciate the sad life of teenage males) but they overreacted. Do you have a reputation for this, or are they just painfully PC up there?

Of course it's possible, I never meant to imply that girls should shut up about male subjects, but yes, they completely overreacted. The only reputation I have is for being direct and blatant about my opinions, and I think my frequent criticism of Islam gets seen as "racism". Eh, I thought you looked a lot worse in that discussion. You made a rude comment that could easily be misinterpreted about an article you hadn't even read, then acted confused when people confronted you about it's rudeness. If you're going to say something that could be seen as thoughtless, sexist comment, it's better if it doesn't look like a thoughtless, sexist comment.

Also I disagree with your point since I think fiction is premised on being able to empathize with people in different circumstances from yourself. Tolstoy wrote accurately about women's feelings; girls can appreciate Michael Cera movies, u kno?

I can see that, but all I meant was that boys (as was later evidenced by all the men in the discussion saying they liked it more than she did) would have liked Spider-Man more, being boys and all, hence a review written by someone with a dick would have been more positive.

If they'd waited to find out what I meant rather than jumping on me with utter moralizing, there might have actually been an interesting discussion on gender bias in cinema, but no, it's more important that they feel self-righteous. I'm debating whether I should stop writing for the paper altogether.
