Am I the only one who thinks "when the eagle cries" is one of the best ballads I've ever heard??
Its so full of emotion, yeah its based on 9/11, but listening to it, you dont have to be american to feel the emotion flowing through that song. Ripper sounds awesome too in that song, really done very very well.
I love the song. The acoustic version is a bonus track. I never complain about bonus tracks!! It's an excellent song and the album is great. The songs aren't as immediate as some previous IE tracks, but they're still great songs that grow on you. Songs like "Attila" and "Waterloo" are examples, great songs, but the hook isn't as catchy as some older songs. I don't mind that one bit. The Gettysburg Trilogy is outstanding musically. The lyrical content is different, which is great, and Jon's singing is not up to par with Barlow or Owens, but the Trilogy is worth the price of the CD alone!! It's an amazing tune! Not only that, when you read the lyrics and story with the music playing it really does transport you into the environment it is describing! Not an easy feat by any means! I was actually surprised at how much the story followed the instrumental parts of the songs! It gave me goosebumps the first time I read along!
