From what I remember, they tried. Not even the members of Heed could get him to talk with them or Wojtek. Besides, Heiman's main beef was that he wanted control over what and how he sang. Compare any of Heed's or Lavett's vocal melodies (Heiman's creations) to LH melodies (all Wojtek) and honestly tell me that it'll work.
I also heard they had Kelly Carpenter set up to sing for them but was almost impossible to plan recordings with. I also heard they had another singer ready to go, but his respective band gave him an "us or LH" ultimatum, and he chose to go with what he already had going.
Now, as far as Elisa... I love her as a singer, but what the fuck?! LH lyrics are amazing, and complex, and need to be pronounced properly. She simply could not provide that, nor the vocal gymnastics required.
I also don't know how I forgot about Iuri... oh yeah, because he sucks now and sounds like he smoked 3 cartons of cigarettes before his last recording. Also, would totally slur the lyrics. If we could get "Defying the Rules" Iuri, I might be in. Might be.
Believe me people, I hate the level of pickiness that Wojtek has taken on. But let's be honest for a minute. Let another mind write these vocal melodies, and we're talking about an entirely different Lost Horizon. So you have to keep in mind, you're looking for a great-to-world-class singer, who won't mind having all the creative power taken from them, and won't mind it more or less permanently.
More or less, I put all the blame on Heiman being such a bitch.
edit: I decided to post a link to this thread on Wojtek's facebook. I know it probably won't do any good, but at least he'll know there's still fans, and they think about LH more than he does nowadays.
