English or American?

As for me, I'm hooked on The West Wing which I had never seen.

I've been watching the British show.

Is it still worth the effort/relevant after all the years? I was thinking of starting too.

Now that I'm finally caught up with Game of Thrones I totally realize how lucky I was in watching the first season. I plowed through it in a week at most and never had to anticipate it coming out weekly. I felt like I got whole chunks of each storyline, but now at this point in season two I feel like I'm getting eight little mini episodes in each hour. Oh, to be not addicted again... I need a new show to keep me distracted, yet I have totally plowed through the first season of the US' Wilfred, which is rather funny but not daunting enough to satisfy The Game of Thrones lack.

Try The League, Workaholics, or It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. All funny, and all easy to find. Also I think you should try watching early seasons of Trailer Park Boys, I definitely think you'd like the humor.

(Not TV but whatever):

I've been watching the webseries "The Guild" the past few days. I know it's old, but I didn't know about it. Lots of laughs, I only have played MMOs for three months, but I totally can identify to some of the characters.

It's the first non-French webseries I'm watching, is there other I should check out?

Folks, does anyone across the pond watch White, Shameless or Little Britain? Have heard good things about them in terms of something to analyze but don't know if they're actually good shows in terms of enjoyment.

Also hear there is an American version of Shameless with William H. Macy and him alone makes me want to watch that rather than the UK. Also curious if this might be a case like Wilfred where the US version is better than the original Australian version?

By White do you mean Whites? The English show set in the parliament buildings restaurant? If so, it's a good show. Shame it only lasted 6 episodes. Try Friday Night Dinner for funny English shows.

Shameless is brilliant, but don't watch the American one. It needs the original British characters, the dirty Manc accent, and the original Frank Gallagher. The actor who plays him also writes and produces a lot of the stuff so it works really well for him. Seriously, watch the British one and avoid the Yank one.

Duly noted.

@Dev: I guess I meant Whites. I'll check them both out. There are so many seasons of Shameless!

I saw the first two season of the (UK) Shameless. Definitely worth the time investment.

Have not seen Shameless, Whites wasn't bad but wasn't especially brilliant. Friday Night Dinner is great. Little Britain is funny the first time but is very repetitive - go for The League Of Gentlemen instead if you can, funnier and darker.

I think Whites is funnier if you actually worked in a kitchen.

my sister loves it. i saw a couple of loose episodes, clearly not the right way to start, but can't be arsed.

i think Fridge is also a fan.

Since we've been mentioning British TV lately, if you like political intrigue/thriller/whodunit type stuff, do watch 2003's smashing State of Play TV series. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0362192/

Excellent cast, clever, funny, smart, and sexy. And nothing like the lame film remake.

The Liam Neeson scene is brilliant. Laughed like a fool.

Ooh yes. Didn't watch the remake, knew it couldn't hold a candle to it.

Blackwater, Blackwater, Blackwater :dio:

Probably too much Lena Headey/Cersei sarcasm, but Stephen Dillane/Stannis was very good.
