I absolutely love the band (even more than Tool) and I was quite surprised when I saw that the 13th Step was quoted with a 65. In my opinion it's one of the best alt. rock albums of the last years. Am I the only one who thinks so?

I bought both their albums but i find them pretty boring. I prefer Tool but neither are exactly my cup of tea.

At first I was not too big on them but they grew on me with time.
I think 13 steps is the weaker of the two albums but maybee 65 is a tad bit too low for it. I give it 74.

I have Thirteenth Step and it's a great album. I think Pet is my favourite song.

A perfect circle is just brilliant. I agree with DF with Pet.

I'm probably in the minority here: I'm not much a fan of Tool (of course, such a thing could always change in the not-so-distant future) but I love Perfect Circle. I agree that 13th Step is the weaker of the two releases (though I did like its softer, more laid back approach), but both albums are great nonetheless.

I like "13th Step" better than "Mer de Noms". It just feels like a more cohesive album. I don't even compare them to Tool as they aren't at all alike. "Blue" is my favorite song by them, and "Pet" is one of the best anti-war songs I've ever heard. If Bush had his way we all would go back to sleep. I also have the "aMotion" DVD and it is awesome. The uncensored version of "The Outsider" is hilarious. There is also a part with the Troy and James doing drunken karaoke to Journey. Good stuff indeed.

Whichever CD that "Orestes" is from is the superior release.. that song is impossibly beautiful.

Perfect Circle is too boring for the most parts.

I don't know about you guys, but when I read the reviews for Mer De Norms and Thirteenth Step, I have to marvel at how far MetalReviews.com has come in terms of the quality of their reviews (just compare the Thirteenth Step review to the Mer De Norms review to see what I mean). During the site's infantile stages, a lot of the reviews were (to put it bluntly) horrible. Only about twenty sentences, giving very little relevant information on the quality of the album being reviewed, etc. Of course, right now MetalReviews.com's staff writes some excellent reviews. It's almost hard to believe the site that wrote the Judas Priest - Angel Of Retribution review is the same site that posted that infamous review for Korn's Issues album.

Just thought I'd point that out.

I thought that the early reviews had a certain charm - don't forget that english is not the first language of some of the reviewers. Also, I don't always want to read a long, drawn out review.

I agree that sometimes it is best to just say that an album sucks and get it over with, but yes i agree that the reviews team has come a long way. One of the most hilarious reviews I have ever read was of Disgorge's 'Forensick', if you have not read it go check it out now!

Anyways I like both Tool and APC, I probably listen to more APC however, technically 13th step is a better album imo, but Mer de Noms had a more raw feel to it, plus there was more action in it, 13th step does get a tad boring at times. With regards to Emotive, it sucks major donkey's ass, boring as hell, great for going to sleep to however, it would put an insomniac to sleep!

Could qualify for the worst covers album ever. "Passive" is good and I liked "When the Levee Breaks" but everything else is pretty flat.

I like APC, and I thought 13th step was the better album. Pet and Blue were my favorite tracks.

My favorite one in "Thirteenth Step" is "The Nurse Who Loved Me", but all the album is superb. Definitely a modern alt rock masterpiece.

imo Mer de Noms was much better....

13 step is a bit too laidback for my taste but still a good album...

and I love their cover of Lennon's Imagine on Emotive !

Totally love 'em. I'm listening to Judith, Brena, The Noose, 3Libras in a repeat tonight. Drinking raki (a traditional Turkish drink) with a fellow metalhead. Fits perfectly when I'm in a bad mood and trippin'.
