It's a fun, catchy album. I thought they made their comeback on the last album though. Some of the songs here are pretty bad. I think Rockin Radio is just awful as is Heroes on Video. I really like the title track though, Crimson Dawn where Chris Bay tries a different type of vocals during the bridge that works for me.

Maybe if the cover was a drawing of dicks with teeth eating babies and the songs were about nipples shooting forks into cat's assholes with no melody whatsoever Geph might like this.

It would be a Nanowar coverart if that was the case, and it needs lyrics about killing snails with handgrenades. Not to mention this shit blows, almost as bad as piggy brutal death.

Why are you still here, you whining piece of shit. If you hate this site and the reviews so much because we don't review all the garbage you listen to you're free to get the hell out. We all get that you're bitter you're not reviewing here, act like the adult you are, straighten up and send in another application then. You used to come off as passable, get your shit together.

I love old Freedom Call (and some songs from Legend of the Shadowking were awesome) but this album is just horrible. The great singalong choruses are now just simple two-liners repeated over and over. Meh.

I just can't get back into these guys. I loved their first few albums but their last two have just been awful. But then again I have moved away from power metal, only picking up a new pm album once in a blue moon.

Oh. Interesting. Yeah, I agree with Steve, Al, but I don't feel the need to spread the malice.

I LOVE Back Into the Land of Light, it's so fucking cheesy and awesome. None of the rest stand out that much. The songs about World of Warcraft and Rocking Radio "we don't play rap and hiphop" are really, really shitty because of the terrible lyrics, I just can't stand listening to that shit.

Hadn't heard these guys before this album. Not completely horrible, but not good either. Maybe about a 70? Rockin' Radio is unbelievably stupid. Giving this a 94 seems absolutely silly to me...

Then I'm stupid or silly, is that your point ? Maybe it takes a little time to get into it (the album does seem to grow upon repetitive spins as mentioned), but I can tell you as a fan of the first albums, this album is a comeback AFAIK that is. Sure it's no Eternity, but it's a great album nonetheless. I'm glad most fans agree (as sales are showing best numbers since Eternity, which kinda is the point I was trying to make). Like it or not I couldn't give a rat's ass really, I just tell you what the album did for me. That's what a review is actually, I wish people would understand that already.

As for the lyrics, since I don't give a damn about them, never had, never will, they account to maybe 5 points in case where I actually care, which 99.9% of the time I simply don't. I just liked the fact that it talked about video games this time around.

Anyway, to each his own, for me Rockin' Radio is actually a highlight, to you it's silly. Thank god and the force that we actually don't tick the same to every single thing, it would be such a fuckingly boring world if we were to all like omne color, one album, one everything.

Just my 2 cents
Chris

Like I said don't care about the lyrics myself... so I love the songs. There is many awesome song on that album, plus they grow over time. I've started listening to Eternity since reviewing this album, so if anything I'm glad this album gave me back some Freedom Call fever. I just wish I could have seen them live this time around but there will be other opportunities :).

Anyway, I take it then you don't like FlashBack Radio from Axxis either ? or are the lyrics better on that song ?

Chris

They took a step backward to revive their original style, but this does not do it. Listened to it once and it's meeh, forgettable. It's well produced and the musicans are very talented, but it is not even catchy. The only thing I remember from this album was that it had some horrible and stupid lyrics which I have also forgotten. They have previously made some cool album, but this is a stinker... Well compared to generic powermetal it is okay, and therefore I have it 71, but compared to their other albums, this is crap.

Well this is your opinion. But if you can always judge an album from 1 listen let me tell you one thing : you will miss some gems albums, some albums require more listens to sink in. If I had stopped at the first listen of Iron Fire's debut, I would have discarded it as forgettable, yet it's one of the biggest masterpiece in the history of this genre... so do as you wish, but judging an album on first listen is, in MY opinion, risky and definitely not objective. Even if music and tastes are subjective : one day you might hate something that you might truly love another day (depending on your state of mind / mood while you listen to it).

But saying this is crap after 1 listen is so wrong IMHO... but then again why do I care if people are quick to judge and discard good albums. Do as you wish... it's your loss, not mine :).

I just don't know. This band always seemed so silly to me, fun for 3 or 4 spins and nothing more. It' been years since I last actually listened to some of their stuff. And honestly I can't see how Dragonlands ( another band I just can not get into anymore ) last record is any less cheesy than this, and it's reccomended by almost everyone here.
