What's the best place to start with these guys?

Throne of Void is their best IMO. Don't see why you should start with anything else. Forevermore and Bliss of Soltitude is also good.

Thanks, Thomas. I will look into it.

This one is definitely in my top 5 for 2011.

I don't get what the complaints are with Silent Ruins; I saw all positive reviews for that? Where Bliss Of Solitude brought perhaps more relentless intensity with a lot of extreme metal elements and the prominence of chanting vocals, SR was a little more loose and catchy, maybe a bit more traditional (but in a good way IMO). And now with Born From Shadows, I think they've probably injected the most uptempo parts and the most harsh vocals I've heard them use.

What I love about these guys is that they always deliver those quintessential, classic, epic doom moments on every album, but they also change it up a little each time out. They mix in elements from every metal genre, plus the folky/acoustic stuff, and they go from chants to growls to whispers vocally while keeping an overall clean, melodic base. In a genre so ripe for repetition and stagnation, I think what these guys do is brilliant.

Sadly, I've only heard from Bliss Of Solitude forward, because it's impossible to find their previous albums anywhere (at least anywhere in stock). Anyone know a legit source where they're available?

I know Silent Ruins got a lot of good reviews, but there's something about it that rubs me the wrong way. This is much better.

EDIT: @Define Infinity: Let me know when you've checked them out.
