He died yesterday from complications related to Crohns disease. Truly a bummer. Riot is probably the most underrated metal band of all time. The last record really was amazing and now that they reunited with Tony Moore, no one will be able to see the classic lineup again.

This truly sucks. Riot is one of my favorite bands of all time, listening to Immortal Soul now, my personal favorite album of 2011. My fiancé also has Chrohn's disease, so this hits home even more because of that. The next time she misses one of her daily medications, I will be certain to remind her of the importance of staying on top of this disease meticulously.

As for Riot, I certainly hope the band does not die with Mark. Mark resurrected and kept the band going through some incredibly hard times over the years that would have spelled the end to most any other band. At least Mark got to relish in the positive momentum that Immortal Soul justifiably injected into the band. Hopefully Mark's spirit will be able to shine on through Riot forging on after the sting of his loss softens a bit.

I don't see how Riot can continue without Mark. He was the heart and soul of Riot. It's like Iron Maiden without Steve Harris (god forbid!).

Horrible news.
Riot is such a great band.
Unfortunately, it sounds like without Marc, Riot will not go on.

I am not suggesting that they do carry on without him, but most of the material on Thundersteel was written by the bass player Van Stavern, and Tony Moore writes the vocal lines. But honestly, Reale IS Riot, without him thy should carry on under a different name. Tony Moore and Mike Flynz had another band similar to Riot called Faith and Fire, maybe they should resurrect that project.

It's more like Black Sabbath without Tony Iommi.

I read that Flynz played most of the guitars on IMmortal Soul, as Reale was frequently too sick to play. But, that same article also said that Flynz played the guitar work under the creative direction of Reale, and thus the reason why Reale IS Riot like you said. The remaining members would surely make a damn good band, maybe rename themselves Immortal Soul, which would be a fitting name to pay homage to Reale, while carrying on the spirit and direction of the last incarnation of Riot.

That would be awesome. I would like another album with Moore.

This is Mike Flynz and Tony Moore's other band. It is an adequate substitute for new Riot.

Will you be mad guys, if they simply carried on with the Riot project? I know I wouldn't. Reale is Riot, yes, so it would make sense to keep his memory alive through the band.

So long as it sounds like Riot should (and they've got quite a wide range to pick from), I don't.

Imho, they should release a "self-tribute" album with many of today's best guitarists to replace Reale, one for each song. The profit could be for his family or those suffering the same disease he died from. Not only would that be an amazing album to hear, it would also publicize Reale's composing skills on a wider audience.

Probably one of the most rocking live performances ever. This is a live version of the classic song "Warrior" which was written in 1977, performed by the Privilege of Power lineup with TOny Moore singing. It is a prime example of how awesome this band was and how awesome Reale was as a song writer.

I agree with this. I couldn't imagine a musician that wants his band to fold which would diminish the exposure of the material he worked all his life to create. I think any time something like this happens it needs to continue to honor the legacy of what the deceased created. There are a lot of nuiancesses though and this doesn't work too well as a blanket statement, but we all know no situation is good for everything or everybody.
