Hey - looking for other bands that sound like Rotting Christ. I still have a lot of their back catalogue to pick up, but I was wondering what other bands have a similar sound (particularly like they sound on Sanctus Diavolos)

Thanks!

I don't know anyone who sounds like them. Sanctus Diavolos is their weakest though.
If you like RC maybe you could try other greek bands like Septic Flesh, Nightfall or On Thorns I Lay, but neither of these are anything like Rotting Christ. But they are all good and pretty unique, I find greek bands are always worth checking out.

I also don't know anyone who sounds very similar to them, but you might want to check out bands like Old Man's Child, Alastis, Sirenia and Dimmu Borgir.

The Pagan Prosperity by Old Man's Child is probably your best bet. Sounds both raw and somewhat commercial at the same time, and is quite a bit like Rotting Christ.

Don't bother with any other OMC albums unless you can find a used copy of In Defiance of Existence, which is good enough to warrant a marked-down buy.

Rotting Christ is black turned dark. so look for other bands who've gone from black to dark.

hmm how about Tiamat?

Tiamat were never black. They started as death, turned doom death, turned gothic, turned Pink Floyd.

I'd suggest Elysian Fields mainly because they are greek are have been criminally underrated. They also have that similar Greek thing to Rotting Christ. Of course, no one really sounds exactly like Rotting Christ, which is credit to them.

Try out some greek bands.. I agree they r very underrated.. But most of the greek bands i heard sound very good..
RC is good also.. One of my all time fav bands.. Prefer their older stuffs.. Compared to the new ones..

For stuff along the lines of old Rotting Christ, try other greek BM bands like Varathron and Necromantia.
