I know this is something that rarely if ever occurs, but what are some bands that you had either a neutral or semi-positive view of that your opinion has changed of. Whether the reason is through further exposure of their back catalogue for your change, or merely reconsidering all the band has done.

First example that pops into my mind is Opeth. I spent years hating them and one day Still Life finally clicked. It became one of my favorite albums of all time. I guess it proves for me that sometimes people indeed don't like some bands simply because they don't "get it".

Pretty much every genre outside of metal. There was a time when I thought that anything that isn't technical and doesn't have double bass drumming sucks.

Bands specifically...well, Dream Theater used to be my favorite band and now I don't really enjoy anything outside of Images and Words and SFAM. I didn't like Slough Feg at first because my first album was Hardworlder and some of the sounds on that album are a bit weird (Karma-Kazee still stanks) but now they're easily one of my favorite metal bands.

I used to like Cradle of Filth. Then I reformed my opinion.

This. The usual Nu-metal and Hardcore bands as well. And The Scorpions.

Lamb of God/Mastodon - didn't like them initially cause they were new.

Have since changed my mind on both of them (though only for first two albums with Mastodon).

Nactmystium - Thought they were good, but then I realised they were stupid (except Instinct:Decay)

Ratt - Used to think they weren't too bad, but like most Hair Metal, it wasn't stuff that sticks around long enough for me to really enjoy it. It kind of just fizzles out after a while.

Bolt Thrower. I thought they were boring as fuck. But suddenly, one day, something clicked and now I think they're awesome.

I hear that! Getting very drunk with The IVth Crusade on was my point of inspiration, I think.

I used to get pretty excited about Manilla Road but then one day I realized I was trying real hard to forgive atrocious vocals and production so now I can't stand them.

The first time I heard SMRC, it did nothing for me. I was lost in the cacophony.

Two years later, it simply clicked one night. Been a fanboy since then.

Kinda feel the same.
Also, Brocas Helm are much better in a rather similar genre.

I dunno why they insist in having that horrible production. It's beyond me. I like the concept and the music.

I have no clue either...
I could deal with the vocals if the production wasn't that bad, actually. Alas, the only two albums I can still stomach are oldies in their catalog, namely Open the Gates and The Deluge.
