Listened to it all at the gym today and I thought it was great, I sometimes feel like I'm going to cry when I listen to dream theater and I did again when I listened to this album. Very emotional music. I love James LaBries voice and I love Dream Theaters music. Fantastic.

Good album best in a while, but I don't think it' s as totally awesome overall as some reviewers seem to think.

Some reviewers have given it a perfect score.

The album would be much better without LaBrie.
Spin #2 right now, and no, I'm not feeling anything but sadness, because I used to love DT and I don't anymore.

Alright, I've changed my mind (yeah, already. Sod off.) Enjoyable album. LaBrie is almost not annoying.

Alright, I've changed my mind once again. I don't like it anymore.

I think I'm bipolar or something.

Who likes Labrie's vocals on Build Me Up, Break Me Down?
What could've been a brilliant song is ruined by "BUUUUUUIIIIILLL MEEEH AAAAHH, BRAAAAK MEEEEH DOOOOOOWWWW!!!!!!!!"

I hate LaBrie. It wasn't enough to ruin Ayreon's The Human Equation, he also has to ruin every single DT album. He needs to be put down.

edit; "Shuuuut meee up, put meee dooooown" :D

I've always liked Labrie. I just think his screaming parts are horrible... and The Human Equation is awesome.

I like The Human Equation, but it could have been so, so much better with another lead vocalist. The first time I listened to it I hoped the guy in a coma would fucking die.

But to each his own, no problem.

Akerfeldt should have had more singing parts on that album. That's the only complaint that I have about The Human Equation.
And I still need to listen tho this goddamnit!

I really don't get all the hate for LaBrie. imo, he's pretty much perfectly suited for the music he sings for. The only time I ever really have any problems with him is when he's doing tough-guy vocals, one because he's not good at it, and two DT aren't good at doing music suitable for tough-guy vocals.

As far as "Build Me Up Break Me Down" goes, the screaming parts really don't bug me too much. The vocals aren't really forefront in that part anyhow.

Pretty much how I feel. When DT covered Master of Puppets, LaBrie sounded awful...

Oh god, that cover makes me laugh every damn time I hear it. Just awful.

In related news, Mike Portnoy is a whiny little bitch.

Don't hear this at all, personally.

I have noticed similarities to the new album and Images & Words, but not overwhelmingly so. Besides, even if some songs were based on the framework of I&W songs, that's not a bad thing. Shit, AC/DC have been writing the same album for their entire career-- they're even pretty open about it.

Like that one Brazilian guy said, "This doesn't mean they will sound alike at all, because within a given guideline for arrangement, you could write virtually an infinite amount of different songs."

So how does he want me to react to this? I think it's kinda cool, to be honest. Sucks that he's not in on it...

...well, if him being in on it meant we get another BC&SL, then maybe it doesn't suck.

EDIT: Breaking All Illusions definately gives me flashbacks to Learning To Live. Again, not a bad thing, because Learning To Live is one of my all-time favorite songs. Breaking All Illusions is really damn good too.
