Didnt see this anywhere on the site/forums so I figured Id post.

Iced Earth has made available for free on their website a re-release of Dante's Inferno featuring new vocalist Stu Block. Looks like we can expect to hear this song live during the upcoming tour.

First time Ive heard Stu Block's vocals and I'm liking what I hear. His clean vocals are going to take some getting used to, but not in the annoying way I found Ripper's vocals to be. He does overall remind me of Matt a bit. Also of note, they played with some of the vocal melodies a bit, seems to work for the most part. Overall very satisfied (especially since its free) and now really looking forward to Dsytopia next month.

I'm curious as to how the vocalist will fit in Iced Earth sound, I'll probably check it out though many recent IE albums have been huge disappointments....

The original is probably my favorite Iced Earth track but Stu did a pretty good job.

Oh man, thanks. I almost forgot this band existed. Singer sounds good, but I never had problem with IE vocalists except debut.

Yes, that's him. And no, he is not that amazing, but he "fits in" very well. And he knows how to growl. Too bad his first name is Stu, though. Stu. Ha-ha!

Gonna check the song, I'm curious because most of you seem to like it. The production improved??

Both his mellow and harsh vocals fit very well. Reminds me so much of Barlow's original rendition.

I'm hoping he's gonna be let loose. And Schaffer better be spitting out some bile and hate on his guitar.

And none of that new over layered Europop crap that signified the last 2 albums.

How cool is Dante's Inferno by the way? It's like 16 minutes long with no chorus.

It sounds like shit. Block sounds decent for some of the vocal performance, but he's a bit nasal and it shows how horrid he'll sound on the rest of Dystopia.

It doesn't sound like shit, but it's not perfect. Of course, every Iced Earth album since Something Wicked, and even the last Demons & Wizards album, sounds kinda weak. John Schaeffer and Jim Morris don't know how use Pro Tools to give music some balls.

That said, this new recording is free, so it's all good. That's a drum machine, too. Bummed the chanting wasn't redone here.
