In looking to the giants of comedies yesteryear I was aware to the minor issue, that what is considered funny in some degree changes from generation to generation. In comparing the giants of comedies past the Bill Hicks, Lenny Bruces, George Carlins, and Pryors to what we have today, I had to wonder about the intellectual level separating them from what is considered funny today. While arguably we have comedians that deal with the issues today, these observational types of comedy have become less and less. With a generation that loves garbage like Rucka Rucka Ali, Dane Cook, and other hacks, do you see the future of comedy as being more safe and slapstick?

I think America definitely has some problems with PC comedians. If you're looking for fresh, edgy stuff, turn to Britain. Künt and the Gang were at the Edinburgh festival, funny stuff.

Yeah, seriously go for it- because you know comedy can't have any sort of intellectual undertones beneath jokes?

I think Bill Hicks and Dane Cook are in very different categories, but nobody remembers the early 90s equivalent of Dane Cook. Also John Stewart and Stephen Colbert are awesome. And I watched a Russell Brand show where he touched on srs stuff a couple of times.

Like Noodles said, putting Dane Cook and Bill Hicks in the same bracket is bound to give a distorted result. Comedy is as broad and deep as the sea, with much variation for those who look for it.

The episode of Louis with Dane Cook was pretty sad.

I need to watch Louis. Louis C.K. is awesome.

Jon Stewart and Steven Colbert definitely provide great, "smart" humor. Probably the best thing going on right now.

I love Zach Galifianakis' strange humor.

That's about it for stand-up comedy...in general, I don't really find stand-up comedy funny at all. I've listened to Bill Hicks, and I smiled a couple times but it's just not that funny IMO.

But yeah, in general, I don't think that humor is totally dumbed down today. Although the rise of shit like Failblog and internet humor in general could definitely be said to be stupid humor, but I really like that stuff

Louis C.K. is a PC, guilt ridden douchebag.

Not being a proud aryan is PC (meaning bad) in Val's book.

As for the thread's subject, I haven't found a new good comedian in a long time, it seems to me the old beards are still those with most energy and wit.

Listen you useless bong addled loser, I have been patient with you but if you insist on badgering me, I can make it real ugly. Want to keep going, you goddamned little chimapnzee?

I mean let's face t: the best your syphillitic little brain seems able to manage to slobber out is "little dick" jibes.

Automaton.

Nah, but I think you can figure out what I mean.

I have no use for white guilt, PC bullshit.
To braindead morons like the little french worm, that apparently equates to "proud Aryan".
I'd expect nothing more from him, though.

People are far too fussy about comedy. I used to be the same, fetishising British comedy over everything else in a distinctly miserable twat of a way, but then Seinfeld showed me Americans could actually be funny and ever since I find myself laughing a lot more. At the end of the day, funny is funny, as interesting as it can sometimes be to intellectually analyse it. I like Louis CK for what he is - his tv show is great, the episode where he went to Afganistan with the duckling oddly sweet for him.

No that's not it; Pryor was funny. Louis CK is not. He's sad.
PC has become a plague, and I have no use for it.

Never really viewed CK as PC. Hmm.

I can sort of see what COTB means in that Louis CK isn't a Roy Chubby Brown clone. But stuff like this doesn't fall into my definition of PC.

Speaking of political correctness, here's one definitely PC comedian on it:

it'd bite if it had teeth.

I'd leave it at that if I wasn't so amazed by the hatred you're constantly displaying. You're not a good human being, period.

Would you just kindly fuck off?
Since you are so eager to label me nasty things, nazi, ubermensch etc, I'll just start referring to you as a pedo. Remember a few years back under one of your numerous accounts when you expressed your attraction to one Christine Young, complete with these  ?
the pics you posted looked like a prepubescent little girl...

Well, I have a very good memory, hell I can even remember our first encounter (accusing me of snobbery because I referred to Voltaire by his birth name). I'm sure there are other veterans here that may remember that incident, where I called you a sick fuck.
Well, pedo, you still jerking off to underage looking girls?
Why don't you crawl back under whatever rock you crawled out from, you slimy little creep.

Man, Christine Young is a porn actress from Quebec.
How young do you think these canadians allow their brawds to make porn? 12? 13?
If that's the best you have, you're as pathetic as you're hateful.
