I've still not got the debut. Should pick that up at some point...

Did everyone like the track Jari sung on on the Nuclear Blast All Stars project?

I liked the vocals but it was a slightly above average song in my opinion, nothing special really. I really hope that's not the new multi-layered song composition he was talking about in the new album. But then again he didn't compose this song so im a bit relieved.

The debut album was without a doubt a masterpiece of captivating melodic metal. But I think his next which will be much better than this. It better Bloody Be :dio:

However the new album turns out, I doubt I'll be truly impressed unless they manage to craft a song more amazing than Winter Madness. That was definitely the masterpiece of the last album, even if it was one of the shorter tracks.

Does anyone else think that guitar solo in Winter Madness (somewhere midway in the song) is fuckin insane??

The instrumental performance on Wintersun is extraordinary.

As much as I did like the first album when I first heard it, I'm not sure they'll be able to replicate or capitalize on what they did in the s/t. It's one of those bands that I foresee losing their creativity pretty quickly. Nevertheless, their first album was pretty enjoyable.

Then again, with the time they've been taking to put out the second album it may just surprise everyone. Interested in seeing what they come up with, definitely.

Whoa...apparently Mr. Mäenpää claims that each song on the new album will contain about 200 tracks . That, in addition to its conceptual nature and approx. 65 minute running length, redefines the word "ambitious".

Let's just hope Wintersun can pull it off!

Whenever I hear about that issue I start to have my doubts about this album.....I have no idea how he'll manage to pull that one out....

Meh, how many guitar tracks were there on Catch 33? And how many does Devin pile on when he's doing something proggy? Lots!

It's a hell of a lot though, and explains the technical problems that have been holding the album up. I remember Ralf Scheepers saying songs on Primal Fear's Seven Seals had something like 90 tracks (and where did they all end up? ) and caused the ProTools to crash several times during recording.

Wintersun never did it for me. The moment I heard one of their songs, I thought it was Children Of Bodom playing.

I wonder which song you heard...becoz definitely none of the songs on the album sound much like CoB. Maybe you should give it another shot?

Yes I too belittle Octavarius' opinion on this matter.

The debut is really great, even though it's a type of metal I'm not normally so into. Amazing musicianship and great songwriting. Zad, please include it among the 134 cds you buy today.

I loved it. Excellent musicianship... although I don't care so much for Jari's clean vocals. Looking forward to the second album so much :)

They seem to have real technical difficulties with the album according to their official message board (www.wintermadness.net). So I guess we cant expect the album anytime soon. My guess would be December.

Still no news since the "My computer is so weak I can't even check my e-mails, let alone create music" excuse?

Ehhh he said that the label would supply him with the stuff he needs as long as he did a few shows. So we probably wont see the album till next year. He has bookings for shows and is playing with Fintroll. Looks like he has gigs through October. Probably wont see Time....(dare I say it?), anyTIME soon. For real tho this is getting insane. Better be the best fucking record I have ever heard.

He's touring at the moment, I'm seeing him in Tilburg the 9th of October. He said they'll play some new stuff so I'll let you guys know how that turned out, for those who are interested.
