Big K, you crazy in the review! Song of the Sage (awesome Jethro Tull-style flutemania and progginess) and Crack in a Stone (stupendous organ work) are the two best songs on the record!! And no knock on the rest which are very good too.

Another home run for Amorphis, top 15 material for the year. I've really started to believe that these guys can't fail with Joutsen at the helm. He's so utterly superior compared to the previous singers and the music has gotten stronger overall as well.

After one spine I really like what I heard. I have a feeling I'll be spinning this CD for quite a while. Definitely top 10 of the year material.

Wasn't as good as Skyforger for me, I just couldn't find that "Sky is Mine" on this album.

After a few more listens I can see where you're coming from with Song of the Sage. Crack in a Stone still has not clicked with me, but it may after a few more listens. I really like the opening part of the song and the chorus, the verse just throws me off. However, I felt the same way about Majestic Beast on Skyforger at first, but it ended up becoming one of my favorite songs from the album.

To be perfectly honest I wanted to listen to this album more before writing the review, but there's just so much to take in it would be impossible to do that and still get it done in a timely manner.

Sounds like they really upped the folkiness on this album, which is an awesome thing. Plus, I love all the fusion-y leads. Really liking this one so far.

Well, as one can read in the previous page I was very much nit-picking on how the vocals could have been just a bit better and now I learned that they are perfect the way they are. As for the music I had to give Amorphis another chance because back in the day I considered them one of the better bands in metal music and after re-considering I must say I feel the same way again. I actually bought the digi-pack for this album and I am proud that I did because this is brilliant and very well thought-out music that should be heard by any music fan that calls himself passionate.

It'll probably take you multiple listens to fully grasp it as it did for me, so give some time to sink in.

I would argue that "On A Stranded Shore" is this album's "Sky Is Mine." That song is just so fucking good. One of the top songs of the year, if you ask me.

Plus, this album just keeps getting better, imo.

This has quickly become my favorite Amorphis album, needless to say it's been getting plenty of play since I bought it.
