This is another favorite of mine:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-dG17XrQRg

Everything after 1:20 is a pure musical boner. There's that chord progression during that "I know everyday gives us a reason to breathe" part that gives me so much happiness.

I thought the way Zad did at first, but the more I listen to it, the more I find to love about it. The atmosphere is absolutely infectious.

Just because you think an album is great does not mean you are ZOMG over it.

There is some definite ZOMGage in this thread.

It's some tapping over some keyboards. It sounds alright, but I dunno if it'd make me want to fuck something. It all sounds very power metally to be honest .

They are definitely original and for me at least that scores major points. Plus when's the last time deathcore has sounded good?

Well, Veil Of Maya's "[id]" and "The Common Man's Collapse" are really good. So is After The Burial's "Rareform," and BoO's previous two albums.

Tried to listen to this bands first two and they flatout sucked, typical djent garbage for scene kids to bounce up and down to. Djent as a whole needs to fll into a canyon somewhere, but The Contortionist are pretty good.

This album is far superior to their first 2 albums. It's has a great atmosphere and some really good songs.

Yeah, this is great. Makes me wish there was more death metal that I like.

On a side note, why does everybody seem to hate the idea of "djent" metal? Born of Osiris and what I've heard from Periphery is perty good, IMO.

Its not death metal though sir, its technical metalcore with a hint of Meshuggah influence.

This is why I hate metal naming conventions. What's the difference between deathcore and "technical metalcore with a hint of Meshuggah influence"

I think a lot of the grumpiness around "djent" is because it's pretty much a whole subgenre based around Meshuggah-style riffing, which isn't exactly a deep well for creativity. There are some good bands, though, Cloudkicker is amazing.

Also, I'd really hesitate to call BoO "djent"

I mean, they definitely have some death metal influence, as a deathcore band. It's not really important...more good music from the heavy side of things, plz. Maybe I'll check out the new Benighted.

Can't get into after two tries. It's too core-y for me.
