Hello to all,

'Kath-ar-sis' are a 4 piece Metal band from the UK. If anyone is interested in checking out what we sound like there is a link below to the website.

We also have a couple of gigs coming up over the next few days. I dont know how many people who view this forum are from Wolverhampton in the UK. But what the heck.

Any feedback would be appreciated,

Thank You,

Katharsis

Hey there, I think you picked the wrong forums (the section is the right one though), no one on MetalReviews really listens to mallcore/nu-metal. It's not a personal offence, but the majority here dispises the genre, and listens to real metal. Therefore you are quite unlikely to get an unbiased respons. Maybe T.I.E. is the only one who can provide you in that, because of his tollerance in metalcore. Succes with your project though!

You know more people on this forum, than i do, true. But you cannot say that people 'dont' listen to a certain genre. This forum has 'x' amount of members and 'you' know that they're all gonna dislike what we've worked hard to create.

Real metal! its like asking 'whats normal'?

Hey Ben, I really did not reply to bash your work. I replied to assure you that the people on these forums have very different tastes, but almost all differ from the music you create. Think about it as if you were to promote your manchoir polka band on a pop forum. Sorry for using the term real metal, but nu metal and mallcore cannot really be calculated to the wide genre of metal. So know that any bad responces comming from us would not really be valuable for you, for almost all of us do not know anything other from the genre you play than that the do not like it. I cannot see into your knowledge of the genre of metal though, so excuse me if I am wrong.

That's just a wrong thing to say. Enjoy and play whatever music you feel it's right for you, but don't call it metal! It's not!

And Gast is right, most people here don't listen to metalcore and nu-metal, so even though you may get some opinions here, you'll probably get better responses on other forums.

oh its metalcore...

you guys certainly got me fooled with the "4-piece metal band" thing.

but a trip to your website revealed your nu- and -core ness

may you all die of constipation!

what classifies metal?
what classifies Alternative Metal and Borderline Genre?

im sure somewhere along the line this band would fall in place in these catagories.

The recordings on the website are old recordings.

They are better than some of the shit out there anyway.

safe.

Yes, your band does fall in place with one of the border line genres (nu-metal or mallcore), and it was correct you placed them in this section. All I wanted to point out, though, is that despite the name of the section of the forum, none of the users is "into the scene" here, and thus you will not get the opinions or constructive criticism you ask for. The people on these boards have tastes ranging from all sorts of rock to jazz to ambient to dream pop to powermetal to underground black fvkking terror metal, and the genre that you play is not expressed in our genrewise spanned poligon. I myself think that when one digs deeper into the scene and/or grows older, he/she will eventually drift away from mainstream genres, but that is of lesser importance. What matters is that although I really appreciate it that you expose yourself to the critics of others, you cannot get an opinion out of us that could be of any use to you. No matter how good a nu-metal band you are, since you are nu-metal, you cannot expect us to give you the credit you deserve. If you were to be KoRn or Linkin Park in person to promote your music here, you'd run into an even far bigger wall of offence and musical bashing. This all is not a personal or musical wise offence, but we just about all share the opinion that our prefered music is supperior to the genre you strive to excel in, as everyone with a certain opinion will think he is right. You are most welcome to ask about our prefered music, and you will probably run into a cascade of recommendations that you might even want to use as influences in your music, but to mandate open mindness on a subject most of us have gone through and buried in their past, is more or less madness.

Well said Gast. I left that genre behind in Junior High, which is probably the case with most of us here.

And, as Gast said, if you Katharsis members want recommendations we're all more than happy to comply.

I think the name of this part of the forum is wrong, it should be alternative music, or alternative rock or something, not alternative metal. Or maybe alternative to metal, though that sounds bad. But that doesn't really matter too much, and it's the right section to post something like that, the problem is the band call themselves metal, and they are not. Maybe they do this because being metal seems 'cool', or maybe they sincerely believe they are metal, but, in this case, they don't know what metal is.
I actualy think there could be some talent in this band, if they would consider changing styles I'd give them a try. As long as they stay on nu-metal/metalcore territory, I say pass.

Misha, you'd have had a lot less bother just doing what we do the rest of the time, like this but less polite:

Your band sucks. Go away.

Interesting post though, glad to see someone's keeping the forum above the low level it can get to sometimes.

Hmm, that's interesting! A little bit avant garde-ish dark metal. And good too! If you like this, better check out Klabautamann!! Awesome band in the same vane.
