Religion in its death throes? Who is this celebrity religiose who claims that god doesn't have to exist? Hmm I never know how broad humanists want to make their claims and I'm always afraid it would devolve into anthropocentrism which kinda blows given the current state of things.

The bullshit about that ordeal is the bigger kid got suspended while the other kid got a slap on the wrist. Obviously one kid was doing the truly wrong thing while the other one made a mistake at worst. Bullshit school policies can't take care of children.

Agreed. Defending yourself is worth a harsher punishment than attacking someone else for no reason? Something about that doesn't sound right.

sad thing is i don't think he's joking. HR people "get so many applications" that "they have no choice" but to eliminate candidates based on the most trivial shit. one professor told me that with covering letters if you don't grab them within the first 5 lines you might a well copy paste stuff from the newspaper for the rest of the letter, because it's not getting read.
whenever people tell me that they have a lot of applications to go through, i reply that you never see accountants throwing invoices in the trash.

Disproportionate isn't usually something that you can determine when you're defending yourself. He grabbed the kid and once he grabbed him, slammed him. It's not his fault the kid chose to pick on him on concrete or that the kid only weighed 90 lb making him lighter to pick up higher off the ground. The kid didn't think and reacted but he wasn't malicious.
