Noooo, I'm saying that you're ignoring the revolutionary aspects of By Inheritance just because more people talk about KEA/RIB. And yes, drinking during the week, the American dream made real.

By Inheritance is kick arse melodic Thrash Metal and one of the best Thrash albums of all time IMO.

It's not revolutionary because it was largely forgotten and didn't really have any influence on the wider Metal community. Most people didn't even know about it.

I am not sure whether to rage at Belowthelights for suggesting that Krallice is better than Early 90s Norwegian Black Metal or just rage at dead1 for

Feel free to dissent from that opinion, Dev, we wouldn't want you or any other thrasher to feel silenced by the tyranny of the majority. Go on, post about how much better and more revolutionary thrash is, I'd be interested to read it.

I knew that would probably push some buttons on the more cult black metallers, but thats just the way it is for me man . I'd be making shit up if I said Krallice's new album wasn't my most anticipated of the year.

I will still whip out Emperor from time to time, but honestly this new wave of USBM kicks major ass in a different way compared to old school norwegian black metal. Not necessarily better, but its awesome nonetheless.

Well anyways, back on topic. You could probably just say this thread is another way of asking which genre is your favorite, because that is probably what will influence someone to say which is the most revolutionary.

Just relax and enjoy more of your Nirvana and David Bowie, Mr. 110% metal.

Black Metal may have evolved but personally I don't think it's great.

As a genre I find most of it intolerable. It's too noisy or wanky in a bad way.

Just cause something's evolving doesn't mean it's getting better.

I don't find black metal noisy at all. I did when I was like 15 though.

It's tinny sounding, especially the early 1990's stuff. The drumming is too all over the show. And it lacks heaviness (but is extreme).

Closest I get to Black Metal is Dimmu Borgir and Cradle of Filth.

I don't mind proper Black Metal one song at a time. Whole albums of it irritate me (just like whole albums of brutal/tech death).

Each to their own.

Hard question. The most revolutionary genre has to be black metal as it has pushed the most boundaries and incorporated the most extreme elements. The most influential is a whole other question though.

Not just extreme, also absolutely bizarre. Think of all the early and late second wave Norwegian bands who went off and did things with (metal) music no one would have dared think of at first - Arcturus, DHG, Ulver, etc. have broken confines like few other bands have, in ways that would make 'true metal warriors' cringe with indignity. First they burned churches, then they burned boundaries.

Sludge metal 'cause Earth were making droning noise and Neurosis were playing bagpipes and having drum circles while BM dudes were still wasting time burning churches and learning to play twiddly folk bits on their guitars.

Don't forget they killed some homosexuals and even each other (though maybe Euronymous was gay  ). What a bunch of nice chaps.

Going from pyromaniac murderers to actual musicians is a very important evolution.

You think melodeth was a revolution and listen to Cradle of Filth for black metal.

Man. All this time I never realized what a moron you are. You are the worst kind of metalhead. Has shitty taste, has no actual knowledge of the genre BUT is highly opinionated and likes to talk A LOT.
